3. Pick up a nature scavenger hunt sheet and complete it with your family. Turn it in for 3 extra raffle

Brrrrr! Frozen Science.
Conduct some cool experiments using ice,
enjoy a popcicle and watch the Disney
Movie Frozen! (PG) Registration is required. For kids going into grades K-5.

Predators & Prey Wildlife Show
Come see live birds of prey, reptiles and
mammals as we discover the relationship
between predator and prey and their adaptations for survival and role in nature. No registration required. For all ages.

Watercolor & Salt Painting
You'll be amazed as you watch your watercolor & salt painting morph before your
eyes! This program is presented by The
Studio for Art & Craft and is appropriate
for all ages. Registration is required.

Join us for some paper engineering as we

honey bee's lifecycle making a model of a
honey comb to take home. This program

The Lego Movie (PG)
Join us for the family edition of our popular
Dinner & a Movie! The library will provide

pizza and drinks and you bring a dessert or
snack to share as we watch the Lego Movie. For all ages. Registration is required.

Board @ the Library
Get ready for some good old fashioned,
face to face social interaction! We'll be playing some
new and exciting board games all afternoon. Snacks will
be provided! For kids going into grades 2-6. Registration
is required.

Mirror Magic
Mirror, mirror on the wall.....learn about the how's and
why's of reflection using a variety of kaleidoscopes. Each participant will create a kaleidoscope to
take home. This program is presented by the Scotia
Glenville Children's Museum and is for kids going into
grades 2-5. Registration is required.

Fizz, Boom, Legos
Get ready to use your engineering skills to create a kinetic object - that means something with moving parts. It's
up to you how you use your imagination to complete this
challenge. Registration is required. For kids in K-5.

Robot-a-thon
What's a Robot-a-thon? We'll be using all kinds of recycled materials to make robots of all shapes and sizes. Registration is required. For all ages.
Wednesday July 30th at 1:00
Einstein’s Megatronic Cosmic Cafe
Get ready to enjoy a mystery lunch prepared and served
by a group of "Mad Scientists". You'll be served four
courses containing delectable offerings like Quark Soup,
Rechargeable Batteries and Titanium Electrons. Yum! And when you're finished, sit back and
watch the movie Robots! Registration required. For
kids going into grades 2-5.

Mother/Daughter American Girl Tea Party
Step back in time as we explore the world of American
Girl Samantha Parkington! Bring your dolls (It does NOT

have to be an American Girl Doll) and your Mom to the
library where we'll talk about what it was like to be a girl in
1904. You'll make a Victorian craft and a calling card to
bring to the Best House where we'll have our tea party. Girls and Moms will meet "Mrs. Best," enjoy lemonade
and cookies and have a personal tour of the house. Each
girl will go home with a goodie bag! Registration is required. For kids going into grades 2-6.
Monday August 4th from 6:00-7:30
Science @ the Library
Have a blast conducting hands on science experiments in
a science fair format. Retired scientists and engineers
from GE's Elfun Society will be there to guide you. No
registration required. For all ages.
Tuesday August 5th at 1:00
The Physics of Fun
Through the exploration of toys and gadgets from the last
50 years, discover how scientific principles of force, gravity, inertia, and friction make simple and complex machines move. Registration is required. For kids going
into grades 2-5.
Thursday August 7th at 1:00
Shape Your Art!
Everyone knows the picture books written by Eric Carle
and Lois Ehlert. We'll use their books as inspiration and
create picture collages. Registration is required. For kids
going into K-grade 2.
Monday August 11th & Tuesday August 12th from
1:00-2:30
Mysterious Shadow Puppets
Come learn about the magical tradition of shadow puppets. In this class, we will learn about the history of this
art form and also design and build our very own shadow
puppets. We will use modern and traditional techniques
to bring our puppets to life. Students will put together a
short puppet presentation to share with family and friends
the final day. This is a multi-day program and registration
is required. For kids going into grades 2 –5.
Wednesday August 13th at 1:00
Engineering Mission
Design & build a shock absorbing system that will protect
two marshmallow “astronauts” when they land. This program is adapted from NASA’s design squad and is taught
by the educators from MiSci.

Registration is required. For kids going into 3-5.
Thursday August 14th at 1:00
Ew! Gross! Medicine in 1777
Get ready to get gross...join educators from the Bennington Museum as they tell us about some of the
strange, outrageous and unbelievable medical and dental practices of the 18th century. This hands-on program will be held at the Dr. Best House and Medical
Exhibit and will include a short tour of the good Doctor's
strange and unique medical equipment from the 19th
and early 20th centuries. Registration is required. For
kids going into grades 3- 6.
Friday August 15th at 7:00
Jack & the Beanstalk with the Puppet People
The Puppet People are at it again! Explore the classic
Jack & the Beanstalk and the science behind it. Find
out what you get when you mix: 1 cow, 3 magic beans
and one giant beanstalk - we're sure the answer is a lot
of fun! No registration required. For all ages.

Drop-In Storytime
Tuesday Mornings at 10:45 from July 1st - August
5th
Get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed
especially for children ages 0-5. We’ll read books, sing
songs, recite fingerplays and watch a short movie
based on a weekly theme. No registration required.
Wednesday August 6th at 1:00
Horton Hears a Who!
How tiny is tiny? Create your Horton ears and come
explore the tiny world of Nanotechnology. Registration
is required. For preschoolers - kindergarten.
Tuesday August 12th at 10:45
Winnie the Pooh Party
Join us for a special end of Summer Reading Winnie
the Pooh party. We’ll have snacks, craft stations,
games and more! No registration required.
