Dating, Relationships and All That Awkward Stuff
I started to 'date' about three years ago when I
was 15. Well that was when I had my first
girlfriend. The whole concept of dating confuses
me because I’ve never really done it – dating that
is. In the case of my first girlfriend, who in the
case of anonymity we shall name L, we just good
friends first and then became closer and closer
over the period of a few weeks by just spending
lots of time together. L and I saw each other in
school and we went round to each others houses.
We never really went out on a 'date' before we
became a couple. And when we did go to places
as a couple it was never considered a date; it was
a couple going out doing coupley things.
I always considered dating the thing you do with
someone on the road to a relationship but I may
be wrong. I suppose me and L going to each
others houses lots could be considered the
equivalent of dating.
With my latest partner we me met at a bar on an
alcohol fuelled night out that was originally
intended, I’m ashamed to say, to be a one night
stand. But then the morning after the night before
and the following weeks after the night before
we got to know each other, we texted a lot and
saw each other around and grew closer through
those means of communication. We had one
more night much like the first we met and then
the morning after we were somehow very close
and in a relationship, a couple.
