The dynamic potential which lurks in the SLK-Class is immediately apparent. The width-emphasizing
lines and the perfect sports car proportions provide for a noticeably bolder presence on the road.

Front design
The front view of the SLK-Class chimes in with today’s
Mercedes-Benz sports car family comprising the SLS
AMG and the SL-Class. At the same time, it also reveals
its origins – the proportions of the headlamps and radiator grille evoking the legendary 190 SL, a forebear from
the 1950s.

Side design
With its top open or closed, the SLK-Class demonstrates
an impressively sporty character. The side view reveals
its perfect sports car proportions: long bonnet, short rear
section. The vehicle appears to be accelerating even when

Rear-end design
Similarly to the front, the rear-end design also highlights

Roof systems
The highly successful vario-roof is an attractive feature from any angle, and blends harmoniously
into the overall design. The improved soft top mechanism opens and closes the roof in less than
20 seconds. In addition to the standard roof in the vehicle’s exterior colour, the world-first MAGIC
SKY CONTROL panoramic vario-roof (optional), a glass roof with variable transparency, and the
dark-tinted panoramic vario-roof (optional) are also optionally available.

The SLK-Class reconciles driving pleasure and low fuel consumption in consummate style.
The BlueEFFICIENCY measures are tailored specifically to the different engine and equipment
variants. For design reasons, the BlueEFFICIENCY badge has been omitted from both wings.

• tyres with reduced rolling resistance for optimised
fuel consumption
• 7G-TRONIC PLUS designed for fuel efficiency
• aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors

for vehicles with manual transmission
• current fuel consumption displayed in the instrument

• adjustable radiator shutter improves aerodynamics,
thereby reducing fuel consumption and ensuring that
• the engine attains its operating temperature more
quickly, reduced noise emissions when the radiator

• rear-axle ratio optimised for maximum fuel efficiency
• drag-optimised wheels (optional)

Downsizing for SLK 250
• 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine with homogeneous
direct injection and turbocharger produces power
output/torque comparable to that of the V6 engine
without turbocharging. Advantages: reduced weight,
reduced internal friction in the engine, fuel savings
of over 30%.

In an accident
The test requirements and criteria for crash tests frequently exceed the statutory requirements for frontal and
lateral collisions, as well as pedestrian protection. A new
electronic control unit activates the restraint systems and

The driving assistance system ATTENTION ASSIST,
a standard feature and unique in the segment, can
warn the driver when typical signs of drowsiness are
detected, and so enhances driving safety.

Speed Limit Assist can identify the signposted speed limit
by means of a camera, and display this speed limit in the
instrument cluster.

Operation
ATTENTION ASSIST continuously analyses vehicle behaviour and steering movements. If the system detects certain steering patterns that frequently accompany drowsiness, it warns the driver visually, via the instrument
cluster, and by means of audible signals. ATTENTION
ASSIST can be activated and deactivated in the main
menu of the instrument cluster under “Assistance systems”.
When switched on it is active at speeds between 80 and
180 km/h.

Operation
At speeds less than 36 km/h the system automatically
searches for a suitable parking space. The “P” symbol
in the instrument cluster tells the driver that a space
has been found which is at least 130 cm longer than the
vehicle. In the instrument cluster the driver is then
shown the steering wheel movements for ideal parking.
PARKTRONIC incl. Parking Guidance can be easily deactivated by means of a switch on the dashboard.
