STATE EDUCATION APPOINTMENTS:
SENIOR ADVISOR, FAYETTE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS (LEXINGTON, KY) 1995-2000
District Demographics: 56 schools; over 30,000 students; 450 million dollar budget.
Leadership: Reduced Board’s exposure to litigation; advised and helped structure strategic plans
to comply with federal mandates on school integration; strategically aligned efforts to proactively
address special needs children; structured negotiations with families of low SES children for more
equitable services, which led to the creation of state-of the-art facilities; successfully mediated
gender pay gap dispute involving FCPS bus drivers; strategically aligned professional
development training to emphasize Board goals regarding equity. Represented Board in regular
meetings with the Department of Education, superintendant of schools, district directors,
principals and teachers.

Served as a senior staff member for one of the first and largest student associations in the United
