- On with the margarine! It’s cooking, it’s boiling, it’s turning. New Iceland, old Iceland,
ancient, brand new. The oven is still baking, continually new bread, completely new bread
with old recipes. Always the same recipe. Always the same: more new. Yet more new! On
with the margarine! Why carry a dead body below deck, who wants to return to old
Iceland? Who wants to pay with butter? Who wants to pay with buttermountains? Do you
know what the Glimpse is? We want the body, a beautiful dead replica. Long live the
body!

Modernity doesn’t start with the Enlightenment, liberty, autonomy, revolution, revolution-eating, or
nothing like that. Margarine

marks the birth of modernity.

Science mutates ancient traditions – new ways, less cost – men seek less cost like flies seek shit,
and voilà, we are eating something new, something brand new which we have never eaten. Then we
speed the process(es). The ways are altered, get shorter, get widened. More and more people tread
this metamorphic path. And one kilo margariiine.
B a d is an unfulfilled slogan – an icelandic saying.
All slogans are completely empty for the simple reason that all words are empty. All words
are empty: completely empty and completely open. The word is not living no matter who says. The
word will not be eaten it’s as simple as that. You can’t dine what you read – we fish, that’s why we
are Icelandic. Nobody will be full of words. There’s no stuffing, no enjoyment, no juice just the
likeness that the word is dead, just like the flesh. The word is like sacrificial meat.
All slogans are hollow and cling like instruments, guitars or drums. The sound just doesn’t
rest with the slogans themselves. It’s not the slogan that will fulfill itself.

„... and worships its god who dies.“
i) Add three words: „in order to“ – and an idea falls apart.
ii) Switch two words and meaning is shattered: „... and worships its god who dies.“

A man owns machinery in order to produce margarine in order to „exploit”
people and sell them margarine in order to buy paintings for the profits in
order to give the same people who bought his margarine a whole collection
of art work.
There is something dubious about having high hopes for other people. Better life for
others: a higher form of life. One should have enough with himself, right?, why need

to think for others? Or is there a difference between Ragnar í Smára and Georg
Bjarnfreðarson.

The revolution is just getting started
„Come on. We’re just getting started.“, a man told me. He is building a tower of glass, 300 feet tall.
He wants it to be completely empty. I think he is a genius. It’s about time we start giving up digging
holes and raising statues. Do we need more glass houses? There’s no doubt about it. That’s an
answer. You can always bake more cake with the same recipe. Endlessly. Always new, always new.
You never get full, never tired. Always freshly baked: the same recipe. Nothing’s needed when you
got the recipe, just more, better higher. And then wow! – light, whiteness, stars.
