Ok so short chapter today… sorry. Something COMPLETELY different too… kinda. This chapter will
be from Ethan’s point of view. Let me know what you think by reviewing, like always. Enjoy.

Fears
AL
L
Ethan didn’t know what to do. When it came to Tasha, he had never felt so confused. Come
to think about it, everything happened by instinct – he never had to think about it. Now he
felt as if he was trapped between a rock and a hard place.
He had never seen Tasha, or anyone for that matter, so distraught and emotional. To
say it left him disorderly was a bit of an understatement. Whenever he tried to comfort her,
all it did was hurt her, which in turn hurt him when she pushed him away. It destroyed him
to watch her.
NE
Ethan felt like he should seek help for her, Tasha’s emotional state had deteriorated
that much, though he knew no‐one would care for her, the queen‐killer. It wasn’t as if she
was crying all the time. That, he knew, he could handle. But it was the detachedness that
killed him, how she would walk to the corner of a room, curl in a ball on the floor, and rock,
eyes on the wall at all times.
It was if she couldn’t face Ethan. He couldn’t remember the last time he saw her
beautiful, ice‐blue eyes, or felt her hand brush along his back like she used to whenever she
past him. At night she would go to bed, and coil up in a ball as far away from Ethan as she
could get.
T
That’s when the tears started.
KA
Ethan wanted nothing more than to pull her against his chest, and hold her till the
sun rose again, like they used to always do, in or out of the cells. To hold her tight enough as
if it would protect her from the outside world. The first night she had cried though, she’d
snapped when he reached for her.
“No Ethan, don’t.”
Those words hurt him more than if she’d slapped him.
It killed him to see her so depressed, skulking around their room, not eating or
talking, not doing anything. It killed him to see the playful side of her, the one that was
never slow to joke around or tease or pull some sort of prank be swallowed up by the
darkness within.
How he longed for the times when he could wrap his arms around her or kiss her
temple, do all little things, without her flinching, recoiling in her inner torment.
He knew what was hurting her too. He had the problem figured out, yet with no
solution in sight, and that killed him almost as much.
How often in the past few days had he stayed up past midnight, begging with
whoever was listening to help his love. To allow her to see the light in the darkness.
He felt like he needed to know everything about what was plaguing her, drowning
her emotions. He felt the same way about it that he did about strigoi.
AL
L
Disgust, hate…
Fear.
He would be dead in under a week and the only thing he feared was his lover’s
illness.
And, oh, how he needed to know how to get rid of it.
NE
Whatever it was that was killing her, he prayed with all his heart and so much more
that he would find a solution in time.
He knew he didn’t have long left.
