This workshop is for engineers, managers and contractors on principles and practices in electrical power
distribution and power system protection. It will discuss principles, functions, analysis, applications and
safety issues relating to power system protection. Participants will gain a solid understanding of the issues
associated with the power system protection philosophy and practices. This workshop will cover special
topic on electric arc-flash hazards, analysis and related protection practices. In addition, it covers advances
in digital and numerical protection and their application.
This two-day event will highlight and examine the critical issues involved in the application and analysis of

applications on the area and emphasize the latest international practices and standards to improve the

M V CHILUKURI (M’2001, SM’2004) graduated with BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and ME
in Power Systems and Automation from the Andhra University, India. Between Feb - Oct 1996 he was
research assistant at CPRI-Ultra High Voltage Research Laboratories, Hyderabad, India. He was Asst
Professor at G V P College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam from 1997 – 2001. Since Jan 2001, he is
Lecturer at Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, and Cyberjaya, Malaysia. His doctoral
research work on Power Quality studies is widely cited and published in IEEE Transactions and
International Conferences. His fields of interest are Power Quality, Time-frequency Signal Processing,
Condition Monitoring, Partial Discharges, Smart Grid, Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation. He
is Senior Member of IEEE-Power Engineering Society, Industrial Application Society, Instrumentation
and Measurement Society and Signal Processing Society, Member of Malaysian National Committee of
CIGRE (2005-08), CIRED and IET, UK.
He is founding member of Center for Electric Energy and Automation, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya,
2001-06. Currently, he is reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, Signal Processing and
International Journal of Signal Processing of Elsevier (EURASIP).
He has conducted Tutorial on Power Quality at IEM, Kuala Lumpur, 2003 and TENCON, Chiang Mai,
2004. He also gave seminars on Time-frequency Signal Processing at UKM, 2004, TMRD, 2007 and
several symposiums.
He was organizing committee member of ICSIPA2009, IEEE PECON03, IEEE PECON06 and CIGRE C6
Study Committee Colloquium on “Rural Electrification for Socio-Economic Development”, May 2007.
Also, he is member of "Asia Pacific Regional Conference and Exhibition on Power Quality" organized by
CIRED Malaysia. Currently, he is member of IEEE PES & IAS Task Force on P1564 - Voltage Sag Indices.
