Our family and members of the team from Canada with Adela’s family in front of their house.

An Update on Adela
Last month we wrote about Adela, who we visited in August along with a couple of other Canadians.
In September, first her daughter, Dayana, had a kidney infection and had to be suddenly admitted to
the hospital, and now she and her boyfriend are in the process of separating and figuring out the
details.
It looks like Adela may be left with half their debt and the total cost of raising three of her four kids
(her boyfriend has offered to pay for food for the fourth child), as well as Dayana’s hospital bill.
Adela’s other option is to leave the house with her children, but then they will have no home.
Please pray for Adela and her family.

Men’s Workshop Advancing

Winnipeg Friends!

As we mentioned last month, I’ve started working
with the construction crew at the new men’s
workshop site. This has been a great chance for
me to practice Spanish, learn about Bolivia, and
demonstrate what it means to be a Christian to the
guys of the crew.

Avant Ministries is holding a fundraiser
on Tuesday, October 11th. The Hoppers
will be playing, and there will be
information about El Jordan. To hear a
good concert or learn more about El
Jordan, please consider going! Jess’s
mom will be there selling some of the
crafts that the students at El Jordan have
made.

At first, most of them
wanted to talk with me
because I’m so funny
looking, but after a few
weeks, the conversations
started to deepen with a few
of them.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased
by calling Avant Ministries at 204-3387831 or online at tedhullconsulting.com

Donations
The youngest of the crew,
Alejandro, has really opened
up to deeper conversations
about our lives and also the
gospel.
Today while we
were talking, he asked me,
“Why did Jesus die?”

Our ministry expenses are ongoing and
we continue to be grateful for the
support we have received. Donations
may be sent to:
Alejandro at work

I was able to share with him a deep gospel
message and we continued to talk about what it
means to live every day as a follower of God.
Growing up in Catholic Bolivia, his view of
Christianity was simply, “What are you not allowed
to do?” He listened closely as I told him that
viewpoint is incomplete, missing the point, that
rather the question should be, “How can I bring
glory to God in everything I do, today?”
Being a bike mechanic has also been a great way
to connect with them. Three of the guys of the
crew have poorly built Chinese bikes that were all
in need of serious repairs (although, if a bike can’t
move anyhow, who needs working brakes?). By
fixing their bikes without asking for anything in
return, they’ve really opened up to me.
I hope to be able to share more great stories as I
continue working over there until the construction
is finished.

Please pray…
For Marco and Corina. Between vehicle
trouble, the busy-ness of life and
construction and 2 weeks of bed rest for
Corina, they could use prayer.
For Mariela, her son was caught with an
ipod he stole from one of the volunteers.
Pray for wisdom in her parenting and
that her son would respect her.
Please pray that lots of crafts will be sold
in October. The women depend on sales
to help support their families.
