BIOGRAPHY FOR: RUBEN D. BRAZZILE, Cincinnati, Ohio

Ruben Douglas Brazzile, is a advanced Pastoral Care Practitioner and faith based health services provider,
a specialist in his field currently. He is the appointed Chaplain with the rank (COLONIAL) Recruiting and
Retention Officer for headquarters at the United States Corps of Chaplains where he has served as a vetted
member since March 2005 and Chaplain Brazzile has also formerly been the appointed Chaplain for
NABVETS – National Association of Black Veterans Inc. in Tacoma, WA 2011; He is independently
ordained as a Minister under Faith and Works Christian Fellowship, and is ordained to be the Pastor and
visionary leader where he serves as the elected Executive Director for Pastoral Care Management
Services [PCMS], a Faith based Health Services Organization and pastoral care health services and outreach ministry, who
provides health services and outcomes and community based programs to those in need throughout Washington State, Ohio
State and has a vision to be in every state in the nation. The organization is a national accreditation and credentialing agent
for clergy who provide pastoral care services nationwide.
Rev. Brazzile has been promoting mental health healing, transformation, wellness and recovery. He Addresses Health
Disparities in the community, and is working to eliminate sexual violence through faith based health and mental health
services.
Rev. Brazzile has been Addressing Health, Mental and Behavioral Health concerns within the faith based and local wider
community, including Addressing Behavioral Health disparities through faith health partnerships and is engaged in African
American Behavioral Health and Spirituality.
In 1994 Ruben Brazzile facilitated his first self-help peer group working with individuals, and mental health consumers in
Corrections, and for seventeen years has been actively working with individuals affected by trauma, including adolescent and
adult mental health consumers. He has 7 years experience in training and facilitating groups of, and classes for adult learners
and professionals, including 5 years advocating for child and adult individuals affected by mental health disorders ,
circumstances and trauma histories.
He was first documented as a ordained minister June 12, 1990, and re-confirmed as a ordained Minister in 2004, then has
been documented to have been ordained as a Pastor in 2005. Ordained as Pastor for Pastoral Care Management Service in
August 2010, ordained as a Minister under Faith and Works Christian Fellowship in November 2010 and appointed Chaplain
for the National Association of Black Veterans in Tacoma, WA in January 2011.
He is a certified Mental Health Recovery and Wellness Recovery Action Planning WRAP - Facilitator, certified as Peer
Support Counselor by Washington State in 2006, and has served as a Peer Support Counselor Training Instructor training
other student learners. He has received education in severe and persistent mental illness, diagnostic criteria, major signs and
symptoms and best known treatments. He received training in Trauma, Trauma informed Care, Cultural Competency, and
Motivational Interviewing. He regularly works with adolescents, adults and families in the local community and has received
extensive specialized training in Disaster Mental Health and volunteer Emergency Services Chaplaincy Training.
From 2005 to 2011 he has served as a vetted commissioned officer and Chaplain for the United States Corps of Chaplains,
where he retired as Brigadier General and the Commanding Officer Division Commander for the Western
Division. Chaplain (Brigadier General) Brazzile provided leadership to twenty five (25) State units and it’s
officers, coordinated division activities, reads, composes, and sends communications to direct reports, and
promotes and participates in Veteran events, developed relationships with other ministries to support their
activities while recruiting members and advancing the objectives of the Corps.
Chaplain Brazzile rejoined the United States Corps of Chaplains a month later to accept appointment as
Chaplain (COL) and the Recruiting and Retention Officer at Headquarters.

Previously Chaplain Brazzile served as Executive Director for the Washington Health Empowerment Network. Where he
was instrumental in securing local and state licensing including 501c3 IRS tax exemption status for the organization. He was
employed there until 2008 when he founded Pastoral Care Management Services.
Prior to that he served as a District Manager, for H & R Block, Tax, Mortgage and Financial Services, Tacoma, WA district
where he managed the district as his own, and managed 8 direct and 300 indirect reports. This position required that the
director be proficient in core competencies of business management, accounting, and risk management knowledge. His office
had a 20% sales increase for three consecutive years, he brought the office up to code, and reduced loss to zero while the
office was under his direction. He was employed with H & R Block from 1997 to 2004.
Formerly from Ohio, the buckeye state, Ruben Brazzile managed a youth affairs program ministry where he worked with
youth in the community and volunteered services at the county juvenile detention facility. While in Washington State He has
been a workshop instructor, a program trainer, public speaker and Mental Health Recovery activist where he has conducted
public trainings, and public conferences.
Finally, in 2007 Reverend Ruben Brazzile worked with a federally funded advisory council for the creation of a practical
manual for Building Sustainable Consumer Run Organizations dedicated toward successful nonprofit management training
and then co-instructed Consumer Run Organizations Training for multiple groups of mental health consumers, and
individuals.
