In Brief...

National Rally Round-Up
Prodrive were the friendly hosts of this years
National Rally. Along with the opportunity
to catch-up with fellow 924 enthusiasts, a
factory tour was available and everyone got
the chance to try and fit themselves in a
selection of iconic Prodrive cars.
At the AGM three new members join the
team on the committee:
Hi all, my name is Andy Pritchard, the
new 924 OC Chairman. After a chance
purchase of a 924 many years ago I fell in
love with the car and have been an avid
fan since, owning and restoring quite a few
and usually having one as my daily driver. I
have been given the opportunity this year
to take on the role of chairman of the club
which I’m both excited and nervous about
as my predecessor did such a fantastic job.
I’m looking forward to a busy club year and
getting to meet all members old and new
at the excellent meetings and get togethers
we have planned for this year.
I’m John Windwood, the new Club Forum
Manager. I have been a member of the
club for several years, and have helped to
moderate the forum for the last 18 months,
so hopefully my new role will come more or
less naturally!
I initially joined the club when I decided
that I wanted a 924 to restore. An existing
member sold me our auto that was in dire
need of renovation. This is now my Wife’s car
and is resplendent in metallic yellow,

with many subtle modifications. I have
recently bought an early 944 Lux from
another member and am well on the way
with the restoration of that. We now also
have another early N/A as a project for my
Son. I count myself VERY Lucky that my Wife
is also an enthusiast!

and maybe in person at some point soon.

Hello all, I’m Felix Page, the new
Publications Editor. After purchasing
a 924 as my first car 18 months ago, I’ve
used it everyday covering 16,000 miles
and dashed across the continent with it
too. I keep changing my mind between
modifying my car or taking it on another
long road trip somewhere. You could say
I’m quite sentimental about my trusty old
This past year I’ve made an increasing
contribution to the Club Magazine, with
photographs and designing layouts. Taking
on the position of Publications Editor is a
great opportunity and I hope to use my
experience of working with commercial
magazines to build upon the already
excellent material published by the club.

924 of the Month...

Lloyd talks us through his project
I entered the world of porker ownership in
the last week of January 2012 and reflecting
back on my 924 project progression its
proved to be a fast paced four months of
repairs, fettling, MOT’ing and modifying in
that order! The the newly named ‘reddog’
as it was on purchase for a measly £360 via

In terms of the past month, my 83 mk1
2.0 n/a has benefited from GT Carerra
styled rear arches being pop riveted to the
original arches, followed by many layers of
filling and sanding down prior to drive way
rattlecan action (sounds much worse than
it is in the hot metal flesh, I’m pleased to

Next on the agenda within May was to
widen the track and encourage the wheels
and tyres to fill the arches and bring the
cars look in-line with the desired GTC
Front & rear hubs with full brake setups
were sourced from a breaking in progress
1985 944 2.5 n/a in Scotland via ebay, and
I was able to also purchase the 4x teledials,
trailing arms and various parts across the
spectrum of my wanted list, all for a wallet
stirring £75!

Also undertaken within the last month:
Seat replacement, both Front and rear (for
the 2nd time since ownership)
Speaker change and re-wire
Smoothed & ported throttlebody fitted
What have you done with your 924 this
month? Get in touch:

The front hubs were a straight forward
transplant along with the stub axels and
brakes, the Mk 2 alloys have filled the
arches nicely, and received a £5 per wheel
refurb prior to fitting which included a deep
sanding, gloss black spray and a red vinyl
rim prior to lacquer, once again sounds very
‘budget diy’ though the end result is pretty
much as desired:

The previous month had brought the 944
front end swap inclusive of wings, front
bumper and lower valance.
