Student Council meeting minutes

New members have been elected to the council- please see attached list at Agenda Item AOB3.
2) Welcoming and outline of council
AN explains to student council members we are given jobs to do and also carry out our own tasks and bringing
issues to meeting we feel strongly about in school, to see if we can make a difference & make a change.
AN goes through roles & responsibilities of student council members. Members are the voice of the student
body in school. Expectations are explained such as commitment, attendance to meetings, taking on a fair role in
the council by carrying out nominated jobs, etc.
3) Student council Roles
Within the student council there are particular jobs that will be carried out on a weekly basis and also in
meetings. There are various jobs such as student council secretary, noticeboard team, etc. Ownership roles are
explained, and that the roles need to be took seriously.

4) Parents Evening

[AOB item 1 was added in here].
5) Leadership Day
Council members were given a brief outline of leadership day. Our leadership day is carried out every year, we
invite 5 pupils from each of our feeder primary schools year 5 class. These are ‘under achievers’ in the way they
have low attendance, don’t like attending schools etc. Workshops are carried out all day with the pupils to try
and improve their attitude towards school, improve their attendance and make them ‘like school more’. We also
spend some time with the pupils giving them opportunities to ask about high school, and let them know the
transition isn’t as scary as what they might think. Pupils also enjoy some times playing games with our student
council group leaders.
6) P.E uniform survey & courtyard feedback
There are still results to collate from P.E uniform survey- sophie Dempsey to collate results
Ruby to speak to BCO to arrange meeting for courtyard.
AN told student council some of the projects we have recently worked on such as the 6th form
courtyard, recycling project, helping with parents evening, etc etc.
Student council twitter is given to members: @olcc_council
