MATERIALS:
YARN - Extra fine #1 (fingering weight).
NEEDLES - #4 (3.5mm) 16” circular and set of 5
double pointed. Adjust if needed for gauge.
GAUGE: 22 stitches and 48 rows = 4” (10 cm) in
seed stitch.
NOTIONS: Marker; tapestry needle.
FINISHED SIZE: 17½” (44.5 cm) circumference on
body; to fit 18-22” (45.5-56 cm) head
circumference.

❉ STRAP: With cir needle CO 162 sts. P 1 RS row. Work in Seed st (see st guide) for 1¾”
(4.5 cm) ending after a RS row. K 1 WS row.
Next row: BO 33 sts purlwise (pwise), k96, p33 – 129 sts rem.
Next row: BO 33 sts knitwise (kwise), ret last BO st to left needle – 96 sts rem.
Turn so RS is facing. Place marker (pm) and join for working in the rnd.
❉ BODY: K 1 rnd. Work in bumblebee lace patt for 7½” (19 cm) from CO edge,
ending after rnd 6 of patt.
❉ SHAPE CROWN:
Note: Change to dpns when there are too few sts to work on cir needle.
Work 9 rnds of decrease chart – 12 sts rem.
Break yarn, leave 8” (20.5 cm) tail. With tail threaded on tapestry needle, draw
through rem sts, pull snug to tighten and fasten off inside.
❉ FINISHING: Weave in ends, block. Tie strap ends.
