Channel Islands Announces Upcoming Deployment of
its Targeted Advertising System at Orion Broadband
Monday, April 16, 2012 – Channel Islands Inc. has announced an agreement with Orion
Broadband to deploy its Digital Interactive Video Advertising (DiVA) solution during the Summer of 2012.
After a successful proof-‐of-‐concept deployed in late 2011, Orion has decided to add Channel Islands’
solution to its upcoming VOD offering in order to generate new advertising revenues while adding a
more relevant viewing experience to its base of subscribers. Orion is also considering offering Linear
Targeted Advertising capabilities in the future as well.
Channel Islands’ next generation ad management solution for Video-‐on-‐Demand is a timely
upgrade for Orion’s cable television and broadband offering. The new revenues derived from this
offering will help Orion to meet its revenue targets for this year and beyond.
The DiVA system allows advertisers to insert tailored ads and deliver them to individual
households (referred to as “addressable”) during national as well as local ad breaks. DiVA includes a
powerful ad insertion technology that allows for the collection and storage of data to enhance ad
targeting capabilities for the delivery of highly personalized ads across IPTV, Over the Top (OTT), cable,
broadband, mobile, and satellite with support for legacy and newer Set Top Boxes, mobile phones,
connected TVs, PCs and Multiscreens. Channel Islands Targeted Ad management system comes with a
state of the art campaign manager that allows the operator to easily manage their ad inventories,
budgets, and profiles in addition to many other capabilities that anticipate future ad delivery needs.
DiVA supports Video on Demand as well as live broadcast TV targeted ad delivery.
Furthermore, the operator will be able to maximize its revenue by working in coordination with
studios and broadcasters to ingest program schedule information, manage ad inventories and avails,
and ultimately splice addressable ads into video content without switching artifacts on multi-‐screens,
and unmodified cable ready TV sets. “Channel Islands is excited to be working with Orion Broadband to
demonstrate the power of our targeted ad delivery system in an environment where subscriber
expectations are high”, said Ross Cooper, CEO of Channel Islands. “Providing ads on Orion Broadband’s
cable and IP network provides us the opportunity to demonstrate the reach of our ad delivery platform
and the effectiveness of our business proposition to other cable and IPTV operators.” "We are excited by
the potential revenue generating capabilities", said John Santhoff, CEO of Orion Broadband, Inc. “I was
impressed by the quick integration time during the trials we conducted last year. We are particularly
excited by the support for national ad targeting; this is an ability we have not seen before”, said
