What Happens in Brazilian Waxing Procedures

Brazilian waxing was brought to the United States by 7 Brazilian sisters in 1987.
They first introduced the procedure in New York. Today, having a Brazilian wax
remains one of the most popular methods of hair removal in the country.
Basically, the Brazilian wax differs from other kinds of bikini wax procedures by
removing the pubic hair located in the front, in the back, and everything that
grows between. Usually, clients opt to leave out hair in the shape of a landing strip
in front. However, some clients would prefer removing all pubic hair, leaving the
pubic area bare.

Since Brazilian waxing was introduced, there have been many below the waist
beauty fads that followed. This includes having a temporary crystal like tattoo on
the pubic area, known as "vajazzling." Another fad that came out was having ink
tattoos on the vaginal area, known as "vatooing."

The averaged required time to do Brazilian waxing is between fifteen to thirty
minutes. Most waxing procedures are being done inside a very private room. The
client would be left alone on the room when removing her pants and underwear.
The client would then be instructed to lie on a sheet-laden table. Some clients
would prefer using a paper thong, and most clinics offer such.

In this hair removal procedure, only a fourth inch of pubic hair is required for
Brazilian waxing to be effective. In this case, most clinics choose to trim first the
length of the pubic hair before applying the wax. If the pubic hair is fine, leaving
out a quarter inch would be sufficient. However, if the pubic hair is coarse, leaving
out half inch of pubic hair may be required. Pubic hair shorter than these lengths
would render the wax ineffective. For clients who have trimmed their pubic hair
way to short, they are sent home.

After these preliminary procedures, the waxer would apply talcum powder to the

affected skin. The talcum powder prevents the wax to stick onto the skin,
especially when hot. The best waxers are able to do the procedure very quickly.
This would mean less pain and discomfort for the client. After applying talcum
powder, a wooden stick would then be used to get wax from a hot wax pot. This
waxing stick would be used to apply the wax evenly on both the pubic hair and the
skin. A thin strip of cloth would then be applied on the wax while it is still warm.
The cloth is pressed firmly, until the pubic hair and the wax adheres to each other.
When the wax has already been cooled, the strip would then be pulled off. The
pubic hair would be pulled by the root, leaving out a smooth, bear vaginal surface.

Some clients request hard wax in this procedure. A hard wax would be thicker
when cooled and peeled off. Most clients actually say that using hard wax in
Brazilian waxing is less painful than usual. For clients who are more sensitive to
pain, smaller strips applied to smaller areas of coverage are done.
