Here's the deal kids, the seller and I had multiple conversations where he told me about all this shit that he fixed
and stuff that he knew was wrong and needed to be fixed. I asked him multiple questions about motor, trans...
he even stated he ran a compression check in the motor and it was all in spec. The fluids were all clean and
clear. New. I drove it around for 20 mins, nothing knocked, no leaks.

It tanked about an hour later. I called him and he said "guess your f***ed, good luck " and hung up, while I was
stuck on the side of the road.
He put stop leak in the radiator, it didn't just appear. He did that to cover a problem. There is a ton on that
crap in there and that may have even caused the issue. I dunno, and at this point don't really freaking care.
The guys a mouth breather. He won, he got a sucker.
Its really fine, pain in the ass, but fine. My family is healthy, the dogs are healthy, I've got work for the next
few weeks. I've got a few great friends that have stepped up and we're gunna fix it. I'll have a spare motor to
build at leisure and do something nice. Life goes on.

I'd get that shit of CL quick if you havent already. That's the kind of shit I think about, but dont ever really do
it. Kinda like this, Call that lawyer friend and check the legality of this but, I would make a sign and stand six
feet from this guys property line informing the general public about that the mechanic sold you a vehicle that he
inspected and sold you, and it wouldn't make it home and he has offered no help or compensation. Sounds like
the guy was out to screw somebody and you got suckered for sure. Stop him from doing it to somebody else if
you can. If you got lots of time to waste call the BBB. They might help, probably not cause it was "As is, No
warranty" But shit who knows it might work. He might have other complaints.
I bought a 800 dollar car one time that I test drove 3 times and I drove it like I stole it every time. And it still
broke down on the way home. Shit happens, it wont be the first time. Be careful what you do with the engine.

Got shafted like this on a deal with a Shelby. A few years later it cost him much more than I paid for that
Shelby.

I feel your pain and suspect the PO I got mine from was completely straight with me. Mine is parked in the drive
way until I can get it to a mechanic. The PO didn't change the oil it and other than it looking BLACK I didn't see
any water in it. The vehicle ran fine, fired right up and with the exception of the manifold leak sounded well.
Even drove it home, to town and work a few times with no problems.
When I changed the oil I noticed a tiny bit of milky residue on the dipstick, oil cap and that was it. Didn't see it
when I checked it at his house. The water pump seals and timing cover seals appeared to be leaking and tried
to fix it myself, hoping that may have been the source. Well after some broke bolts and finally getting it back
together, I changed the oil again and had a bunch of water pour out before the oil drained out. Now it won't
even start and the rotor isn't turning. Which may be my fault.
Although I paid half of what you paid for yours I still feel your pain. I originally had other plans for that money. I
wasn't expecting a lot for the money I paid for it but was hoping to get one that ran well. I can do body work
etc but very little with the engine.

Hmm... this thread seems to be missing some details, so hopefully you can help clear things up a bit for the rest
of us...
Did you or did you not take it on a test drive first?
Did you or did you not have a mechanic friend with you when you first inspected it? And did you or did you not
check it over, check all the fluids, and go over some of the known issues with the truck before you paid for it?
Did you or did you not take it out wheeling on your test drive?
Did you or did you not make threatening phone calls to the seller shortly after the engine blew?
Did you or did you not quote the seller a price of $3600 for a new motor, and did you or did you not demand the
seller split the cost with you at $1800?

I'm just wondering out loud here, and I hope you can clear some of this up. But the bottom line is, if you spent
enough time taking it out on a test drive, taking it off road, checking fluids, looking it over, and doing what you
felt was necessary to make an informed decision that led up to your agreeing to buy the truck, it's all on you
here. You looked at it, you accepted it, and you drove away with it.
How is the seller, or anyone for that matter, to believe that you didn't do something yourself to cause the
damage in the 3 or so hours you had the truck in your possession? And how are you going to prove that in
court, since you seem so determined to get lawyers involved? The vehicle was sold as-is, and you assume all
faults the moment you sign the title and hand over cash. For you to assume that you're somehow owed
something on this deal is preposterous, and you will get laughed out of a courtroom, should you take it that far.
And for you to harass the seller, and post craigslist ads with his phone number is downright illegal on your part.
Hopefully you don't leave that little detail out during your deposition...

Where in this thread did he EVER say that he had a "mechanic buddy" give him the green light
to buy it?
Now to add into the mix you posting crap on CL and threatening the seller?

You must be reading shit into it. I don't see anywhere the the OP "lied" to you or only told you half the story.

Seller tried to cover up the fact that the motor was fawked, seller is a dick. Hopefully the next vehicle you buy
you get the shaft.

Looks like he explained exactly how the deal went down.

So you going to take pics and tell us what it ends up being? This thread is getting derailed quickly. Thanks
Ranger for getting it back on track.
I like the guy also. This is a tough crowd. One of the reasons I lurk 99% of the time.

That's because you've only heard HIS side of the story, and there is a very strong possibility that he has left
some information out.
I asked some very definite questions regarding this possible left-out information and his reply was nothing short
of insults. If he had nothing to hide, do you really think he'd respond in the manner that he did?
So, are YOU willing to believe this guy has been 100% upfront and honest about how this situation went down?
