When you initially start to get into online marketing and test the waters a bit, it's not hard to get

"how you too can be the next big thing!" Those lists probably all oppose each other. One list will
say "patience" is the secret to becoming the next "it person". Business savvy is one other claim
oftentimes made by these lists. Still, another will state that creativity is what will make you a

And, of course, you can't forget about all of the people stating that all you have to do is buy their
software package if you desire to be the next big name in online marketing!
Here's what's true: All of these things matter (OK, perhaps not the software program, but the other
things). You do need to have patience, business savvy and creativity if you want to achieve
success. None of these things will matter much, all the same, if you are unable to communicate
well with your customers.
Good communication involves more than merely setting up a convincing sales page. A seasoned
copywriter can handle that aspect of your project. Good communication is more than having a
stunning site with a really long FAQ area. An experienced web site designer and writer can give
you those. Effective communication involves being good with interpersonal communication and in
direct copy also. So what is it that you need to do?
1. Make sure an e-mail doesn't sit unanswered for more than 24 hours. This is not a joke. You
don't have to write a long reply for every last mail. All you need to do is compose a short message
that says something like "I got your e-mail and will be sending you a full response shortly." Try to
include a a portion of the email they've written when you do this. This helps the person you email
tell your mail apart from the autoreplies that other online marketers employ.
2. Answer calls. It's not a good idea to screen your calls. You should always try to answer the
telephone by the third ring. Do this even if you really don't want to talk to the person making the
call. The good news is that there is, however, an exemption to this rule. You don't need to answer
your telephone around the clock. Instead, just set clear "business" hours during which you plan on
being available to talk on the phone. Let your business hours known on your site and include
them in your voice mail message. And, obviously, give people a call back if you were unavailable
when they called.
3. Follow up with people to make certain that your messages and emails have actually been
received. This indicates to the your customer that you value him or her. It will help your clients
and buyers trust you further if you really take the time to ask if they have any questions about
your messages so that they can ask you to clarify anything they need clarified.
