Well, if you haven’t heard, Facebook has rolled out its new Facebook insights for Page
Owners & Admins. It had more detail and is user friendly. Below I will go through each of the
basic screens for you. My suggestion to everyone is to really just spend some time, playing
around with your insights and really get to know your Facebook back office. Ok, here we go.
OVERVIEW. Here is the overview area. Your overview will give you a quick glance at age likes,
post reach and engagement with your fans.

LIKES. This is a detailed look at your likes. How many like you have and what days and even
time. In the daily data section, you can check your likes by week, month or quarter. You will
see it as 1W,

1M, 1Q. Use the slide bar to see each day in more detail.
Below, you will be able to see unlikes, organic likes, paid likes and your total net likes. Organic
likes are those likes received from people actually visiting your page or a from a friends page.
Paid likes are from an ad or sponsored story that you created and are paying for.

Finally in the likes section, you can actually see where your likes are coming from. Post, Page or
Post By Others. Was is post that you created and a friend saw in their newsfeed? Did they
actually visit your page and like the page from there? Did they see you page in a post from a
friend? On the right under Benchmark, you can click on each section to see more detail about
each.

REACH. Reach is the number of people that saw your post. Again, you can check your reach by
week, month or quarter. You can use the scroll bar to see the exact number you reached on a
given time period. In the post reach section, you can view the reach your paid post received or
organic post. Hover over the graph and it will give you the number reached on a given day.

In the likes, comments and share section. You see on any given day how many people like,
shared or commented on a post.

In the Hide, Report as Spam, and Unlikes, you will be able to see if anyone reported your post
as spam, any unliked post or hidden post. Thank goodness, I have none of that going on, let’s

hope it stays that way. Finally, we come to the Total reach section, shown at the bottom. This
section is just going to give you your overall total reach paid and organic. You can click on any
day for more detail.

VISITS. This section keeps tracks of how many visits your page has where the visits are coming
from Let’s look at the Page and Tab Visits. Below you can see how many people actually visited
your timeline and how many fans clicked on tabs. I use Woobox for my custom tabs to link to
my other social media platforms. You can also see how many people clicked on admin tabs
such as the friends tab or the photo tab. Click graph on any given date for further detailed info.

Finally in this section. External referrers, the number of people that visited your page from
places other than Facebook such as your website, blog or other social media platforms. This is
a very important part of the insights in my opinion. I always want to know other than
Facebook, where I should be spending my marketing efforts and $$ and what maybe I need to
improve.

POST. Now we come to post. In this section you can see what kind of post you have created.
Was it a link you posted, an image or a text post? You will also be able to see the number of
people each post reached, you can us the scroll bar on the graph to view the times and actual
number that particular post reached.

Here, you can visibly view all of your post to get an overview.

PEOPLE. The most important section in your insights. Here you will find detailed information
on your Fans, People Reached and People Engaged. In all 3 areas, you can know whether they
are male or female, their age range, what language they speak, what country they are from
even what city they live in. This is important if you are targeting a certain group or area. This
will help you in determining if you are reaching your target area and help you in deciding what
changes if any need to be made. Check this section of your insights often.

I hope this quick tutorial helps you out. Like I said before, your best bet is to actually spend some time
in your insights and go through each section thoroughly and check out the quick start video and walk
