The Parent Project
December was full of excitement as we were able to see God in action when
we graduated 21 residents of Stonybrook who participated in the Parent Project
Class. These families completed eight weeks of curriculum that allows them to
be better parents and equips them with proven tools that will enhance their parenting skills. Six Dads took part in this program which is a huge milestone. We are extremely proud of their commitment to their families. We had
35 children as well that came every week with their parents. Special thanks to
Urban Youth Impact and Mr. Bill Hobbs for funding this parental class for the
residents of Stonybrook.

From the Executive Director
Wonderful things happening here at RCOM….
In August we began weekly food distribution and we now have over sixty-five families registered
for the Food Pantry. Many thanks to volunteer Danny Davis for picking up the food from the food
bank & TCI every week and to all the volunteers who help make the Food Pantry a success.
We are completing the winter Nutritional Classes in Spanish, a great program given by Lynne Vainberg of the University of Florida Family Nutrition Program. Every Thursday morning Lynn teaches our
Hispanic moms and they are enjoying themselves as they learn ways to help their families eat
better. The class also includes the need for and the benefits of exercise. In April we will be
holding the same classes in English.
RCOM finished the year with favor as God continued to smile on our outreach as we began 2014
Celebrating once more. January 6th we held “ The Three Wise Men Day” - “Dias de los Reyes Magos” Celebration. We thank the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County for providing RCOM with brand new fun toys that were presented to the many Hispanic children that we serve
in the City of Riviera Beach. We all rejoiced as these children opened the very gift that will
change their lives, the gift of acceptance
January began and ended with a bang as on January 30th we held our Alumni Program & Dinner and welcomed back
the families that graduated from our Parental Class. What amazing transformations
are taking place in their lives. We had several speakers, Odette Walker of the Christian Woman
Book Club, Dr. Ted Greer of The Center for Family Services, Kimberly Esau of Return to Glory, and Janice Daphne
from Hope House sharing her knowledge on Human Trafficking The evening was an encouragement to all.
All in all we had an amazing end to the old year and a fabulous start to a blessed New Year. As Executive Director I
just serve my Lord...I want to thank all of you that keep us in your prayers and those that encourage me as I go
about town high and low, telling all that will listen about our little outreach, that I love so much, on the corner of
Australia and 6th.

Community Outreach Christmas 2013
Our Christmas Outreach was amazing...we gave toys to over 100 families and were able to serve them a
delicious hot meal. They were able to choose clothes as we had a tent full of clothes donated to RCOM for
our families. We saw more folks step up, donate and share the joy of the Season as we helped, encouraged and loved many families that struggle during this time. This is what it is all about at RCOM, to help
the least of His. Special thanks to all the volunteers who always make the Christmas Outreach such a huge
From the board….
Greetings Friends and Supporters of RCOM,
What an awesome year of service to the community we experienced all through 2013 and into 2014. I am
continually impressed with the vibrancy of our organization. This is thanks to you, who support us with your
time, your resources and your prayers. To some people the word helper carries with it a second-class connotation because they assist “the trained or skilled people“. This is not so at RCOM. All of our Helpers,
“friends, supporters, board members and those keeping the place clean”, are needed to accomplish our
mission. Throughout 2013, we received gifts, large and small, monetary and in-kind, from Helpers, who
came along side to help meet the needs for food, clothing, information, counseling, training, transportation
and more. Some of these gifts came from strangers who when they heard our story were moved with compassion and provided help.. Several visited and saw first hand how great the needs are and made donations.
We are grateful for the help given in 2013 and trust for even greater assistance in 2014 as we continue to
meet needs and give a “hand-up” not just a handout.
Barbara Pembamoto...Board Chair.
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
I was so thankful to be able to participate in the recent Christmas Give-away. I had the privilege of overseeing the Children’s activities. Our activities consisted of Jump Rope contest, Hula Hoop contest, and Hopscotch contest, along with crafts of decorating crosses, and stringing beads for bracelets, necklaces, or key
chains. It was such a blessing to see the enthusiasm, as well as the creativity of the children. A few of the
children expressed that their craft would be a gift for someone else, which let me know that they understand,
it is better to give, than always receive.
