NEW CASINO RESORT DEVELOPMENT
Voters recently approved a state amendment allowing the development of up to seven new casinos in New York. It’s
anticipated that the Catskill / Hudson region will be awarded approval to build two casinos, which are expected to help
further promote the area as a resort destination getaway.

WILLIAMS LAKE RESORT PROJECT
Currently underway, the vision of the Williams Lake Project (the new Williams Lake Resort) is to build a modern,
sustainable resort on the site of the former Williams Lake Hotel that honors the site’s unique history and the Williams
family’s legacy of land stewardship and community outreach.

3D TECHNOLOGY AND START-UP NY PROGRAM
With the recent award of $1 million in state economic development funding to SUNY New Paltz, Ulster County is
expected to see an uptick in new jobs and the economy. Funding, as part of the Start-Up New York program, will mean
new manufacturing technology and training in the region at an accelerated rate. It will also put the region on the map as a
key area for 3D printing and related research, design and development.

NEW YORK STATE AND CITY UNIVERSITIES
Ulster County is home to two prominent colleges. The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz in the Town of
Marbletown and Ulster County Community College in the Town of Stone Ridge are centrally and conveniently located
within the area for easy access to these esteemed schools for higher education.

ORGANIC FARMING AND SUSTAINABILITY
The former Gill Farms is slated to be converted into the largest agricultural incubator in the nation. A number of
agricultural agencies, farmers and other Hudson Valley stakeholders are working together to create a farm hub to serve
as a major center for sustainable agriculture. The project will offer programs and research opportunities to strengthen
farming and food systems in the region.

STONE RIDGE
Stone Ridge is known for its antique stone houses including
the famous Cornelius Wynkoop home in Main Street
Historic District, where our founding father George
Washington once slept. This historic district is primarily made
up of 18th and 19th century homes.
The surrounding mountains offer the charms and warmth of a
true colonial town. The six large black locust trees spaced 10
feet apart along the frontage of the Wynkoop House were
planted around the time it was built and are contributing
aspects of its historic character.
Stone Ridge has a wonderful school district, Rondout Valley
Central SD, a progressive independent school, High Meadow
School, for children 18 months to 8th grade, and a community
college campus, SUNY (State University of New York) Ulster.
Located only 95 miles from Manhattan, Stone Ridge is also
known for the area up along Rt 209, where members of
the Rondout Valley Growers (RVG) Association, are
dispersed. RVG is a non-profit community organization
comprised of local farmers committed to strengthening the
region's farms and preserving agricultural open space. The
RVG are highly sought for their produce and vegetables that
are easily transported into NYC on a regular basis.

HIGH FALLS
The picturesque village of High Falls, founded in 1669, has
history that runs deep. John A. Roebling, Design Engineer
of the Brooklyn Bridge, 30 years prior to opening the bridge,
built a new aqueduct for the 108-mile Delaware and Hudson
Canal. Experimenting with suspension design, revolutionary
at the time, Roebling replaced the [former] arched aqueduct
with what was essentially a miniature Brooklyn Bridge. A
series of historical markers, is nearby, detailing the evolution
of High Falls from a tiny farming community to a thriving
center of commerce after the "discovery of natural hydraulic
cement”
Although small, the Catskill hamlet of High Falls is known for
the D&H Canal Museum, specializing in the history and
culture of the Delaware and Hudson Canals, located in the
heart of town adjacent to a portion of the canal and 5 locks.
A hamlet with its own personality, High Falls is a Hudson
Valley hot spot for fine antiques, unique shops and great
dining. It offers natural wonders including a spectacular
waterfall that is fed by the Rondout Creek, and plenty of
outdoor activities including kayaking and the Ontario and
Western Rail-Trail (O&W Rail-Trail), which welcomes

ACCORD
This Hudson Valley hamlet, 90 miles from Manhattan, is a
charming community that offers the serenity of small town
living. Originally named Port Jackson, it is thought that the
name "Accord" resulted from a petition of the townspeople to
the Capitol in Albany for a new name. The response was that
the authorities could not come to an accord about a new
name so the name "Accord" was chosen.
Organic and subsistence farming is big here. Wendy
Hollender, one of the best known botanical artists in the U.S.,
founded Hollengold Farm where she crosses art with
agriculture. Hudson Valley Seed Library is another example
of the cross pollination of art and agriculture, where they sell
seeds in artist designed packages.
By virtue of its location, residents can access the Ontario and
Western Rail-Trail (O&W Rail-Trail) and the D&H Canal.

Town of Rochester
Located in the center of the famous
mid-Hudson valley, Rochester
serves as an oasis away from the
hustle and bustle of New York City,
