As the dark nights draw in during October, Berlin celebrates with its annual Festival of Lights and Neon
Workshops are excited to join the celebrations at Berlin Glas e.V. We’ll be taking our facility to this popular
city of arts and culture to stage several days of workshops at Berlin’s only public hot glass studio. This will be a
unique opportunity to play with both furnace glass and neon!
Berlin Glas is an impressive studio with a mission to share the skill of making art with glass. During our
residency there between the 10th-13th October, we’ll be offering several One Day Intensive and Neon Session
workshops. An exhibition of participants neon work produced on these workshops will be staged until the 19th
(optional). Experience is not essential. Please get in touch with Neon Workshops for more information and to

One Day Intensive
10am-5pm, 1 hour lunch from 12:30pm
Participants will learn everything from transcribing their ideas into neon drawings to filling their glass forms with
gas. At the end of the day each participant will take home a piece of neon they have designed and helped
make/directed in the making of (transformer/neon power supply not included).
Neon Session
10am-12pm, 1-3pm
A two hour taster on what neon is, what it can be and how to make it. See glowing examples of neon art
explained and expect mesmerising demonstrations of cutting, blowing, stretching, bending and fusing glass to
flame, filling with gas and illuminating with electricity. Experience the chance to have a go yourself under tuition
and take home the results!*

*If you would like your practice examples electroding and processing with gas we can offer this at a discounted rate
of £18.
Places are confirmed once payment in full is received. Payment can be made to Neon Workshops by Bank Transfer.
If you wish to withdraw from the workshop you will receive full reimbursement provided a minimum notice of 28
days before the workshop has been given. Course prices do not include travel, accommodation or food, which
should be organised by participants. Course prices do not include neon transformer/power supply. Transformers are
available on the day: £90 for high frequency and £126 for traditional iron core. All prices are inclusive of 20% VAT.
We teach members of the public from the age of 14 years and above. Those below the age of 16 must be
accompanied by an adult.
