7th OLANGO CHALLENGE
This coming May 17, 2014, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Philippine
Swimming, Inc. (PSI), will hold the 7TH OLANGO CHALLENGE at Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan, Lapulapu
City, Cebu. The Olango Challenge is the country’s first open water swimming competition organized to
raise funds for classrooms in Olango Island and to drum up public awareness on the magnitude of
drowning in the Philippines.
The OLANGO CHALLENGE raises funds for classrooms through corporate sponsorships and
pledges for individual swimmers. The first two-classroom building realized by the campaign was turned
over to Candagsao Elementary School in 2010 and this was followed by another two-classroom building
for Caw-oy and Tungasan Elementary Schools in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Currently, additional
classrooms are constructed for Talima Elementary School.
The OLANGO CHALLENGE has so far attracted almost 600 swimmers since its inception. This
year, PBSP and PSI extend this invitation to interested swimmers, competitive and enthusiasts alike, to
the 7TH OLANGO CHALLENGE. It is with your support in the spirit of competitive sport that PBSP and PSI
will be able to meet its goals for the schoolchildren of Olango Island.
We entreat you to come swim with us this May 17!
