TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ONE YOUNG WORLD COMPETITION ENTRY
1. This application is open to all permanent employees and/or fixed term contractors of
Telefónica Europe plc, Telefónica UK Ltd, Telefónica Deutschland GmbH & Co. OHG,
Telefónica España, Telefonica Digital and Telefónica LATAM, or any of their subsidiary
companies, as long as they are not Excluded Employees. We reserve the right to verify the
eligibility of entrants.
2. Excluded Employees are the following:
a. Those who are working their notice and/or undergoing disciplinary action.
b. A fixed-term contractor whose contract is for less than one year.
c. A fixed-term contractor whose contract ends prior to 18 October 2014.
d. Any employee (permanent or contractor) who has been employed by Telefonica for
less than three months on 11 April 2014.
e. Any employee who has previously attended a One Young World Conference.
f. Entrants whose 18th birthday falls on or after 18ctober 2014.
g. Entrants whose 31st birthday falls on or before 18 October 2014.
3. We reserve the right to select an alternative candidate (s) in the event that an entrant is
found to be an Excluded Employee.
4. No purchase is necessary. Should you wish to apply, you can do so via the instructions
posted on the intranet.
5. The closing date for the competition is 08.00 GMT on 5 May 2014.
6. Only one entry per person is allowed. We welcome team entries but teams must not
consist of more than 5 employees. Team members can apply from different divisions
within Telefonica.

7. The successful candidates will be selected on merit by the criteria stated on the application
form from all the correct and eligible entries received.
8. We reserve the right to discard any applications that do not fully complete all sections of
the application form or comply with the instructions.
9. If the initial selected candidate (s) is unable to attend or fails to respond to our
communication prior to 16 May 2014 then an alternative candidate will be drawn at our
discretion and notified by telephone and or email.
10. The names of candidates will be published on the intranet and it is a condition of entry
that you agree to your name and photograph being made publicly available if you are
successful.
11. The application is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.
12. Entrants must be proficient in spoken and written English, and applications must be
submitted in English.

13. Entrants must ensure they are able to attend the One Young World Conference in Dublin,
Ireland, on the dates specified (15 -18 October 2014) if they are successful. Entrants may
be required to take annual leave to allow for attendance, this will be at the discretion of
your line manager– please discuss and check whether leave is available and can be
authorised by your manager before entering. Entrants must ensure that they have a
current and valid passport, and, where applicable, will be eligible for an Irish visa for the
dates indicated.
14. A successful application includes the cost of travel from the winner’s home location to
Dublin, Ireland, for the conference dates indicated. Should the candidate wish to travel on
earlier and/or later dates they are personally responsible for any additional costs incurred
and they cannot later be claimed back through expenses. The trip includes meals,
accommodation and transport between accommodation and conference locations in Dublin
on the indicated dates.
15.

The promoter has not procured group medical/travel insurance specifically for travel to the
One Young World Summit. Employees are responsible for checking that they are covered by
their home business’ corporate travel insurance policy, and should they not be, ensure that
they are able to pay for medical/travel insurance personally. This cost cannot be claimed
back on expenses.

16. Whilst we have made every effort to ensure the availability of the stated offer, we shall not
be liable in the event of cancellation of the event.
17. While every precaution will be taken to ensure the delegates’ safety and security for the
duration of the summit in Ireland (15-18 October 2014) the promoter cannot be held
responsible for the safety of the delegates and delegates choose to travel at their own risk.

18. The Promoter reserves the right to provide a substitute prize/offer of similar value should
the specified prize/offer become unavailable for reasons beyond its control. In the event of
fraud, abuse, and/or an error affecting the proper operation of the promotion, including
the allocation of more prizes than are available, the Promoter reserves the right to end or
suspend the promotion; amend these terms & conditions; declare void the notification of
winners; and/or to allocate available prizes by conducting a simple draw from all wrongly
allocated winners.
19. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for lost or delayed entries, notices, acceptances,
tickets or other documents or for incorrectly completed entries. The instructions provided
at the point of entry form part of the terms & conditions of this competition and, in the
event of a conflict, these terms & conditions take precedence.
20. The Promoter reserves the right to change, cancel or withdraw this offer at any time.
21. The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
22. This promotion is governed by English Law.
