oil degassification a vital
Transformer oil is extremely necessary for the purpose of insulation. Apart from this important
quality, the oil is also needed for arcing, suppressing the corona and as a coolant inside machines
used in industries.
Maintenance of transformer oil ( click here ) is necessary too. It needs to be kept dry and clean for
being able to sustain and achieve insulation performance of optimal level. It also needs to be
clean for possessing dielectric strength. All this necessitates the process of oil purification.
The need for purification of oil
The oil in transformers starts deteriorating after the passage of certain time span and also decays.
This is usually due to water, oxygen, and the catalytic actions of materials present inside the
transformer. All these aspects cause the decay and deterioration and pose collective challenges
such as oil cracking and oxidation.
All this results in releasing by-products that are acidic and pose more dangers towards the
deterioration of oil. All this leads to the bad performance of the oil and can be damaging for the
transformer over a longer period of time.
The process of oil degasification
All the activities of companies that are related to the use of oils have a common problem. This
issue along with the ones mentioned above is of gases affecting the oil. Further, the cost
occurring in changing or disposing of such contaminated oil is quite huge and if it happens
frequently, then it may lead to losses for the companies.
This is where the process of oil degasification comes in. This is the most proven, economical and
practical method of purification of transformer oil for making it good enough to be used again. The
high vacuum oil degasification is in very high demand amongst companies that use transformers
on a large scale. The process can filter the oil and make it free of gases. Most importantly, all this
is performed at very low cost, thus being beneficial for the industries.
The thermal and electrical stress lead to degrading the oil resulting into loads of faulty gases that
include ethane, methane, ethylene, carbon monoxide, acetylene, carbon dioxide and hydrogen to
contaminate it. Along with these gases, water and air too are present in the oil. Detection and
monitoring of such gases is needed as they can make the oil unusable. Oil degasification needs
to be carried out for preventing further damage to the oil and making it useful again. All this
explain how important degasification of oil is.
How is oil degasification done?
The process of degassing oil includes multiple passing of vacuum and oil that is heated at high

temperatures. This leads to purification of the oil and making it useful again. This process is done
on energized transformers. The oil is pulled from transformers into the unit for degasification. It is
then heated and vacuumed to finally filter it. This purified and degassed oil is them transferred to
the original transformer. This oil purification ( visit here ) process is necessary to be performed at
regular intervals. Hence, checking the oil periodically to find faulty gases is necessary.
