WELCOME
TO AVCC
Welcome to the world of All-Star Cheerleading
with Annapolis Valley Cheer Club.
If you are not yet an AVCC member, you’re
about to find out what it feels like to be a part
of our AVCC family. If you are a returning
athlete, we’d like to welcome you back to
another unforgettable season!
Annapolis Valley Cheer Club is entering its 7th
season. For the past 6 years our athletes have
grown in leaps and bounds. Our athlete’s
achievements and accomplishments, as well as
our incorporation of recreation and precompetitive teams, along with having the most
highly certified cheerleading coaches in the
area, have helped to make AVCC the most
successful Cheerleading program in the
Annapolis Valley.
The last 6 years have seen AVCC athlete’s
capture over 25 Division Championship titles at
various competitions and 5 National
Championship titles.
All of our teams, All-Star, Prep and Recreation,
are equally important to our program; as a
result they will all receive the same expert
training with coaches certified at the highest
levels in cheerleading with USASF (stunts,
tumbling and tosses). Our athlete’s get to work
with some of the most well known coaches and

choreographers in the industry, no matter what
level.
We provide quality instruction in a fun,
welcoming, and SAFE environment.
Cheerleading has offered something new to
local youth; we have had over 200 local youth
from Windsor to Middleton come through the
program in the past 6 years. Cheerleading offers
the values of traditional sports, but targets
youth who are interested in performance as
well.
Cheerleading focuses on the team working
together to achieve a common goal, that being
the performance of a flawless routine that
incorporates stunts, dance, tumbling,
gymnastics, and therefore they need to be fit,
strong, athletic, learn to work as a team, have
confidence and respect. AVCC fosters the
growth and development of these youth while
teaching them lessons in commitment,
dedication, teamwork, and responsibility that
they will carry with them in life well beyond
the realm of cheerleading.
This info. package is meant to give you a
greater understanding of the commitment
athletes and families make when deciding to
become part of AVCC’s All-Star competitive
program.
If you have any questions regarding this
information, or our team placements, please do
not hesitate to contact us by phone: (902) 6913331 or by email: av_cc@hotmail.com

TEAM PLACEMENTS

All athletes that wish to be a part of AVCC’s All-Star Program, which is our fully competitive teams; must attend a team
placement. Upon receiving results of team placements parent/guardian and athlete must attend a registration night. If
Registration night is not attended, athlete is not considered registered, and thus, cannot start practices with the team.
Teams will then start their summer practice. If you are not able to attend a team placement, but wish to be part of the
All-Star program, please contact Megan at av_cc@hotmail.com. Private placements are based on availability.

What is a “Team Placement?”
Team placements are for coaches to evaluate your skill-set, flexibility, and fitness level. Athletes will be put into stunt
groups of similar age and abilities to demonstrate the above. EVERYONE is welcome to attend the team placements, even
if you have never cheered before.
Athletes will be placed on a team that best suits their age, ability level and mental preparedness.

✭ OUR FACILITY✭
We practice out of Central Kings, in Cambridge, centrally located in the Annapolis Valley!
Even though we don’t have our "own" gym (yet), the facility has everything needed to ensure athletes receive proper
training. We have all the needed equipment which includes: FULL 9-strip competition size matted floor, a 6x12 fully
sprung tumble strip, and tumbling equipment (octagons, handspring wheels, crash mats, etc.)
September 2014 we will be adding a BRAND NEW air trak for tumbling!
We also have a parents viewing area that is OUTSIDE of the gym, with windows for the parents to enjoy watching their
child, without distraction for the athletes!
During the summer months we practice at Berwick Town Hall Gym where we have the full matted floor as well as the
tumble strip set up each week.

**AVCC Team levels are NOT set in stone at the start of the season, levels will be determined upon working with
the teams, seeing their skill-set and ability level, coaches will decide levels based on where the team will be most
successful, while still providing an athletic challenge.

SEASON SEVEN: LOCK AND LOAD
Each year we choose a different theme. This is a fun way for athletes to identify with one another, and
come together as a club, as the team names will all be interconnected by the bigger “main” theme.
Season Seven: We’re Stronger, better, you can’t break our family code, we’ll win this fight together,

A copy of the policies is to be turned in upon registration, with each page initialed and signed at the back. It is
important that you familiarize yourself with these so you are fully aware of the commitment and expectations, as
well as various other regulations regarding All-Star Competitive cheerleading.
TUMBLING FOR ALL-STAR ATHLETES
We have included two tumbling classes this year based on level; so that athletes will have a
structured class setting vs open tumbling time. Tumbling is not an additional cost for All-Star
Athletes.
This is in addition to the weekly practices for all teams starting in the fall
Tuesdays Level 1-2 6:00pm-7:00pm
Wednesdays Levels 3-4 6:30pm-7:30pm
Other Tumbling Options:
Private Lesson: $15.00 per half hour
Semi-Private Classes
ALTERNATES
This season, we will be offering the opportunity for athletes to be alternates on teams in addition to the team
they are placed on FREE of charge.
They would learn positions in the routine, attend practices free of charge and be able to step in, in the event
that someone on that team was not able to compete.
Based on experience that we have gained over the years, alternates would be very beneficial and the
likelihood of them filling in for at least 1 event is quite high.
If you are interested in being an alternate on a team in addition to the team you are placed on to compete
with, please indicate this on the placement form.

TRAVEL TEAMS
New this year at AVCC we will be offering travel teams.
These teams will travel to Ontario in 2014/15 for the Cheer Evolution Nationals, on top of all other
competitions attended by AVCC athletes.
There will be fundraising to help cover the costs associated with traveling for the away event.
It is our goal to add other events for travel teams in future years (UCA Nationals in Florida for
example).
If you are interested in being considered for a travel team it is important that you indicate this on
your team placement form.
It is our intent to have two travel teams to cover a wide age span.
We would like to have a Youth Travel Team (ages 8-12) and a Senior Travel Team (ages 10-18),
this will, of course, depend on interest at placements and ability levels.
All fees and tuition for travel teams are the same as those listed on page 7, with the addition of the
fees required for the traveling and attending of Nationals.
This fee will be approximately an additional $500.00 per person (covers hotel, entry fee, and travel
to and from Niagara, activities such as the water park at Niagara, for which there will be ample
fundraising opportunities.
Expectations for travel teams will be high in terms of practice attendance, work ethic and past
performance in these areas will be considered.
We are so excited to offer these opportunities to our athletes to better their skills and experience
the world of cheerleading in bigger ways than before!
