Role Objective
To provide scientific support to both the Sales and Customer Support teams for the entire product range of Applied
Photophysics into the following areas and countries:
Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Indian sub-continent, South America and Mexico, Australasia, Japan, S Korea,
Singapore, Malaysia and Russia.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide support to sales, through demonstration of our products to potential customers, and through the running of
customer samples.
Liaise with pre-sales application support and sales managers where technical support is required at any stage
during the sales process.
Present at workshops and seminars arranged by Applied Photophysics or requested by Applied Photophysics’s
agents and distributors in the territories listed above, liaising with any external contributors.
Attend conferences, exhibitions and trade shows where appropriate.
To provide training to end users through structured training courses, which includes the production of training
materials when necessary.
Provide documentation for sales, and customer care, and produce web content.
Produce application notes and other materials, through internal development and the management of external
collaborations.
Required Skills
The position of Sales Support Application Scientist requires experience of a broad range of scientific disciplines. As new
products are launched or sales demand change then a flexible and adaptable skill base is required. The Sales Support
Application Scientist should be able to demonstrate broad-based skills in overall experiment design with the ability to
execute the experiments methodically and safely.
Good technical communication skills are essential.
The Sales Support Application Scientist must be able to write technical documentation for internal and external
use.
The Sales Support Application Scientist must be able to deliver technical content in front of audiences, either at
conferences and sales events, or at customer training events.
Preferred Skills
Experience in a similar scientific application scientist role.
Hands on experience of any of the Applied Photophysics products is preferred however, familiarity with the
techniques included within the Applied Photophysics range of products is desirable: Circular Dichroism, StoppedFlow and Laser Flash Photolysis

An understanding of the operation of ISO9001:2008 and how quality management systems can improve customer
satisfaction would be advantageous.
In addition, demonstrable skills in the following technologies/platforms would be useful:
Windows® Vista®, and/or Window 7®
Microsoft Office 2007, and/or Microsoft Office 2010
Qualifications & Education Requirements
The position requires a person with a higher degree (M.Sc., Ph.D. or equivalent) in the life sciences (biochemistry,
biotechnology, etc.) or in one of the physical sciences (chemistry or physics).
Additional training will be provided on an “as needs” basis but be largely through an on-the-job approach.
Additional Notes
You will be working in a small team and should not only be able to work as a member of a team but must also be selfreliant and show personal initiative in order to get on effectively with project work independently.
