Reverse Actuator Extension Update Kit
Symptom: In affected 2014 SR Viper models it is
possible for the reverse actuator to shift
out of forward gear which may cause
gear damage.

Install a new Actuator Extension Update Kit. Instructions are included in the
kit and provided in this bulletin.

Modify all affected units during set-up and pre-delivery inspection. Check first to be sure the modification has not already been done. See Identification Procedure section.
Modify all units in the affected range within their factory warranty period. Check first to be sure the
modification has not already been done. See Identification Procedure section (page 4).



Please contact customers to arrange a mutually convenient time to have this modification performed if it has not been done. The modification should be done as soon as possible, but must be
done before the factory warranty expires to be covered by this 90-code.

Read these instructions thoroughly and carefully before beginning the installation process.
Retain these instructions for future reference.

TIP:
Before installing this update kit, make sure the
snowmobile is fully shifted into the Forward position.
1. Remove both access panels; then remove the
seat and lower console.
2. Remove the cable tie (A); then disconnect the
gear position sensor. Remove the three Torx®
screws (B) securing the actuator to the chain
case cover. Remove the actuator and set aside
(see Fig. 1).
3. Install the new actuator extension into the original extension and gently rotate counterclockwise to make sure the shift fork is in the Forward
position. Remove both extensions (see Fig. 2).

4. Install the new O-rings onto the new actuator extension.
TIP:
Be sure to add a small amount of white lithium
grease to the O-rings of the new actuator extension and the shift actuator detent block before
installing (see Fig. 3).

5. Install the new actuator extension making sure
the notch in the extension is directed downward
(see Fig. 4).

6. Install the new spring into the bottom of the new
shift actuator detent block and install into the
chain case cover. The notch in the extension
should be lined up with the notch in the block
(see Fig. 5).

 NOTE: To verify everything is installed correctly,
insert the existing extension into the new extension and turn the extension counter clockwise.
The notch in the extension should not rotate out of
the detent block. See Fig. 6.

NOTE: You will need to use white lithium grease and Loctite® 243 Threadlocker (or equivalent) to perform the
modification. Be sure to have the products on hand before performing these procedures. These products can
be sourced from a local supplier.

The repair/modification is authorized for units within their factory warranty period. You will be reimbursed a
labor allowance (which includes an allowance for shop supplies), plus the cost of the Actuator Extension Update Kit, and a handling fee. The Service Bulletin Code is 090WC and the labor allowance is 0.3 hour.
Tag and hold the replaced parts (actuator extension) for 90 days from the date you submit your reimbursement
request in YDS. After the 90 days, properly dispose of the actuator extension so it cannot be reused.
