Casino Night March 7th
This year the Casino Night, the chapters strongest Alumni fundraising event, will be held
on March 7th, which is a Saturday. This, and other social events are located to the left for a
quick glance, with hyperlinks to each for details. This is historically a fun night for everyone to
come out and relax with their brothers, both active and alumnus. As in years past this is
expected to garner a huge turn out, so be sure to invite alumni from your era to attend. As it
will both be great to see you, as it will be to share a beer, and have a few laughs and
memories with the active chapter playing the role of our host.
Brothers that cannot make it out to the Casino Night, they should know that they can still
donate to “
The 1856 Club
,” or “
The Men of 87 Franklin Blvd
” via paypal. This year we will
take the time to appreciate those that donate to keeping this 100 year old house in good
repair, as we will have their names displayed at both this event, as well framed in a place of
honor in appreciation of those that contribute to maintaining the traditions of the Eta Phi
Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.

Alumni Involvement
“Brothers, it is a great time to be a Theta
Chi! More importantly it's a great time to be
a Theta Chi Alumnus as we have just
reformed the Chapter Advisory Board.
Even if you do not have the time to
contribute to the chapter now, it will be
impossible for you to contribute in the future
if we have no way to contact you. Please
take a moment and visit
www.thetachietaphi.com/alumnidirectory
to
update at least your contact phone, email
and hopefully what you would be interested
in helping out with!”
Alex Varner
State of the
Fraternity
“As many of you all know, 2014 was a
difficult time for the fraternity due to our
probation. however, as we are now 11
months after such an incident, our
chapter is very strong. Our grades have
reached the highest they have been
since i have been active. Our house is
glowing with alumni presence as we
continue to rebuild and add constructs to
our home. With each year, there are
opportunities that we face head on and in
full stride. However, we have appointed
several members to our Chapter
Alumni / Active
Advisory Board to ensure that our

Alumni Corp / Donations Pays For Repairs
Matt McClure, President:
February 24th bring tools!
At a materials cost alone of over
$1000.00, the alumni board, has had 20
replacement spindles made for the main
staircase. Combined with the technical
assistance of active Jim Schroader’s
father, owner / president of
superiorstairandrenovations.com
we will
be securing the newels and bannister to
last another 100 years. So come on out
and assist as we tackle a lot of other
house repairs!
My name is Matthew McClure. I am in
my third year at Oakland University. I grew
up with 5 siblings and am from Novi High
School. I love soccer, football, Assassin's
Creed, and my drink of choice is
Gentleman Jack and Ginger Ale. I plan to
attend medical school after I graduate next
winter, and hope to stay in the area to
practice.
"Why I am a member of the 1856 club"
"I am a Theta Chi for life that's why I
donate $18.56 a month through PAYPAL to
the 1856 club.
We all are busy now, but if we can't spend
the time to give time to the Chapter we can
give a few bucks it's easy! I challenge all
other Eta Phi alums to join me in making a
difference in the lives of other young men,
by helping support our Chapter. Click on
the link, and sign up, and make a
difference. Theta Chi for life!

House Projects planned
this Spring:
All be advised the Eta Phi chapter is well
represented on campus, with positive
public branding! Lead by Derrek Pantelli (a
Sophomore pursuing a degree in
Occupational Health, & Safety), this
semester’s events include a OU Basketball
game sponsored by Theta Chi and MADD,
with a half time event including two
students racing tricycles across the court
with drunk goggles on! As well Eta Phi is in
the planning stages of a cosponsored
event with OUPD, MADD, and Auburn Hills Who’s 30th birthday party, how many

the Jaws of Life, and field sobriety tests!
A big project that is scheduled this
Spring is the storm drain replacement in
the lower parking lot. This construction
project for $5,300 will redirect water from
the upper and lower lots to the street to
prevent basement flooding, as well
remove "Lake Theta Chi" from the lower
parking lot, and prevent vehicle damage
by replacing the central storm drain
underground vault, and sinkhole. The
work was attempted in early winter,
unfortunately the ground was already
frozen.

Did You Know?
The Eta Phi chapter runs a physical
activity/ health competition each semester
via a point system where going to the gym,
distance runs, intramural games, all
tracked via Nike fit, allows actives to
compete for team goals. The winning team
each semester gets half their social dues
back!

Chapter Advisor Board
During the month of January, the
chapter along with IHQ solicited alumni
to form a Chapter Advisor Board or as
we call it CAB. CAB consists of 12
alumni who are actively involved with the
chapter providing advice and guidance
on such things as scholarship, life skills,
and finance. Currently on the CAB are
the following alumni: Justin Wojas, Ryan
Croft, Zachary Livingston, Christopher
Beattie, Allen Gee, Sam Lamerato,
Joshua King, Phillip Stene, Thomas
Willhoft, Christopher Drouin, Justin
Howland, and Jack Arens. The CAB is
always looking for more alumni
involvement, no matter how big or small.
If you are interested in participating or
would like to know more contact the CAB
Chair, Justin Wojas at (248) 8428148 or

Thank You Recent Eta Phi Chapter Alumni Donors !
Ask yourself the last time the actives or alumni corp. reached out to you formally to assist in financing the Eta Phi Chapters momentum? It’s
likely been awhile, as formally we haven’t asked since 2009. That stated, it’s hard to make the financial contributions to a place you love
when no one is asking, especially as many of you are at a distance, with a lot on your plate, between work, and family to say the least.
That stated I was surprised when I asked for who and how much people had still been donating to the Theta Chi Eta Phi Alumni Corp via
“
The
1856 Club
,” or “
The Men of 87 Franklin Blvd
”
using Paypal. Upon review I want to thank the below individuals who have contributed over the
years! As well I want to truly commend those who still do find the resources to make that one time donation,
or monthly $18.56
contribution
. No doubt as of recent you’ve seen where that money goes, as well from the graph below you see we started off well, but didn’t
want to come off like a sad NPR radio DJ, requesting for donations, even though per the above articles we have much to fix this spring!
Either way, please know your assistance and presence, as its available, is always welcome and appreciated. Historically
we have received $7,200 over the last few years but want to increase it, with
a very real annual goal of $6,500 / year by
signing up 30 brothers in the 1856 club with an annual donation of $220 or $18.56/month.
If you prefer sending a check, please make it payable to
“Eta Phi of Theta Chi Alumni” and mail it to:
