home.”

“Ideally,

I’d like a house in the suburbs
of a city, close enough for work
and
to feel the vibes of a busy city but also
close enough to the
countryside or

reading
room and the rest of the house
would be decorated in a shabby chic
style.”

Home Sweet Home
55% of the 82 people interviewed for this
project currently own a home. 46% of these
people said they would sell it in the future
and 14% plan to rent it out and only 36% said
they wouldn’t rent their home to anyone.
68% of people surveyed said they would prefer
to live in the countryside.

Only 7 (9%) of people surveyed said they would
rent a home. The rest would all prefer to buy a
home for various reasons. Some responses said
that renting was dead money, others said buying
is an investment and something to call yours
and pass down to family, and people also said
they would like to buy so they can do what they
like with the property. Most people that
preferred to rent a home would do so just for
the freedom to move around.
At the end of the survey, I asked “From a young
age, we are told that we must get a good
education, get a good job, get married, buy a
house and have a family. Would you agree?” I
found that 56% of people agreed with this
statement, whilst 16% of people were undecided
or agreed partly.
