reproductive care and knowledge that is her human right. With close to 70 affiliates managing nearly 650
health centers nationwide, Planned Parenthood provides family planning and reproductive health care services,
education, and information to millions of women, men and young people each year.
Planned Parenthood’s Public Policy Litigation & Law Department (PPL&L) seeks applicants for the position of
Paralegal. This is a two-year rotating position. Typical past paralegals have been recent college graduates
interested in gaining work experience before applying to law or graduate school or other public policy
positions.
PPL&L is a key component of PPFA’s Public Policy, Advocacy, and Communications Division. PPL&L
represents PPFA and Planned Parenthood affiliates in policy matters that affect the mission of the organization.
We conduct litigation in state and federal courts across the country, and provide legal advice to PPFA and
Planned Parenthood affiliates about legal issues such as pending legislation, regulatory matters, and activities
of those opposed to Planned Parenthood that interfere with our ability to provide comprehensive reproductive
health care.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Deputy Director of PPL&L, the Paralegal provides support for attorneys conducting
reproductive rights litigation and policy work including: legal and factual research using Westlaw, academic
resources, and the Internet; cite-checking and copy-editing briefs; assisting in production and service of filings;
writing and editing non-legal documents describing developments in the area of reproductive rights law; and
responding to requests for information. The Paralegal also performs various administrative tasks including:
faxing, copying, filing, and assisting in travel and meeting arrangements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Bachelor’s degree
Superior research, writing and editing skills ( knowledge of Westlaw preferred, but not required; will train
as needed)
Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word & Excel as well as Google Apps
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
Able to master complex tasks and concepts quickly
Excellent communication skills, including ability to accurately and succinctly impart knowledge and skills
to others
Attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple tasks , prioritize whilst maintaining a sense of humor
Knowledge of and comfort with diverse groups; working with a multicultural workforce and sensitivity to
and appreciation of cultural differences

COMPENSATION
Approximately $40,000 , plus comprehensive benefits
