~ Line of Light ~

Settings
Line of Light is a 3.5 freeroam campaign set in a custom average D&D medieval
fantasy settings that is simply called "The World". The world is high in magic to
the point where everyone who practices the art is capable of learning it if given
enough time, including any atheistic characters and monsters. Technology is
roughly of that of the 13th century, after gunpowder but before the steam
engine. All famous D&D races are present in the World and are available for
play.

Hello and welcome to my world. Enjoy some music while we go over
the rules eh?

Setup Rules
-Be on Time. We will be playing every Saturday at the same time at 7 PM UTC. It will be
afternoon or evening depending if you are from America or Europe. COUNTDOWN CLOCK
-You MUST use a microphone. We will be using Google Hangouts to speak to each other.
Don’t worry too much if you are unfamiliar with Google Hangouts. A link will be pasted in
roll20. If there is a lot of background noise, then you must mute yourself after every time
you speak.

-No this is not just a game. We are a club. You schedule to play weekly. Your team expects
you to be there. Your team relies on you. Have your friends and family respect your hobby
and that you are simply unavailable to them at this time. Of course, if something important
is coming up, let us know ahead of time that you cannot play.

Campaign Rules
-Permadeath : Players that die are permanently dead and cannot be brought back.
-No Templates, No Prestige Classes
-Multiclassing Allowed but only in up to two classes. No multiclass penalty. Racial hitdice do
not count toward this limit.
-ECL in effect : If you pick stronger races you lose class levels for each level adjustment and
each racial hitdice. Some of these races are therefor not available for low level characters.
-All polymorph and shapechange spells and effects are banned.
-Two allied creature limit : You may only have two allied creatures that follow your will. This
includes for example animal companions, followers, familiars, hired servants, summoned
creatures, commanded undead and possessed bodies.
-Material components below 10 gp are not required for spellcasting.
-No traits/flaws.

Major Changes

All Spontaneous
Classes such as the cleric, wizard and druid that prepare spells now use spontaneous casting instead.
They only know a limited amount of spells equal to base amount of spells per day + 2 per spell level.
This is to avoid the hassle and overpoweredness of prepared casting. Domains are simply added to
your spell list and provide no extra bonus spells per day. This ONLY applies to prepared caster
classes.

Discipline for Everyone
This is an alternate class feature that can be taken by any class. You lose all spellcasting (if any) and
cannot use maneuvers or stances from other combat disciplines.
Select one of the nine combat disciplines found in the Tome of Battle book. You pick one maneuver
or stance to learn from the chosen discipline with each class level you gain. Counter maneuvers and
the “white raven tactics” maneuver cannot be picked.
All maneuvers can only be used once per fight. Only one stance can be active at the same time and
switching takes a full round action. Your initiator level is equal to your class level for this purpose.
See table below to see at what the maximum maneuver level is for the maneuver or stance that you
can pick.

*: In this campaign, almost all Dragonborn that now exist were born as a Dragonborn by having one or two Dragonborn parents. You may
pick Dragonborn as your race by using the template in the Races of the Dragon book as if it were a race of its own. all rules concerning the
base race are to be ignored.
**: Homebrew, the Ratfolk are small sized humanoids with a ratlike face, fur and tail. Click the link to for the details.

-A common race is well-represented and well-treated in the World.
-A rare race is very thinned out around the world and is usually well-treated but sometimes misunderstood.
-An untrusted race is slightly lower in numbers and scares people off because of their looks. They are treated
slightly below average.
-A shunned race is high in numbers that consists mostly of bandits. They lack proper morals and are treated
poorly because of it.

Pointbuy
Put points in your ability scores until you have spent 32 points. Use this calculator to help you.
Although this calculator allows it, you may not put a score of less than 8 in any of the ability scores.

-You gain an additional 2 points for your pointbuy for each racial hitdice you have and an additional 4 points for each level
adjustment you have. Remember that level adjustment and racial hitdice are at the cost of class levels and that some races
are not therefor available at low level.
-You may also spend points from your pointbuy to gain up to three bonus feats, each bonus feat costs 4 points.

Alternate Class Features
Any alternate class features or class variants are allowed as long as they are within the Core or
supplemental books (so NOT campaign specific or dragon magazine). However you may only select
ONE of these class variants per character.
In addition, any character may select “Discipline for Everyone”, found on the third page of this PDF.

Instead of lowering the price on magical items, I decided it would be easier to drastically increase the
price for everyday life. For your imagination, a gold piece is now equivalent to roughly five dollars.
