A Message From Our Relay for Life Chairs…
Hello Anteaters!
As Event Chairs, we’d like to welcome you to Relay For Life 2015! Each year, as we approach
Relay, we like to remind the UCI community of our mission: Our goal is to unite all Anteaters in
eliminating cancer as a disease through research, education, and advocacy. Relay is more than
just numbers and it is more than just games. Relay is about instilling a sense of hope and spirit
into our community which will remind us that no one is ever alone in the fight against cancer.
Relay is about fostering a passion for research and hoping that someday we can put an to this
atrocious disease.
From all the exceptionally bright students here at UCI, you all have the potential to become the
cornerstone for a new treatment or even a cure. We are here to remind you that there are endless
possibilities for the future and it all begins with optimism! This year’s Relay-wide theme is
“Hope” and our campus theme is “TV Shows” which perfectly caters to everyone’s inner child.
I’m sure you can remember waking up early just to catch Pokémon (not literally) or stay up late
to watch Grey’s Anatomy during midterms-week. Let us take you back to the shows that we
grew up on or currently rely on while garnering hope that we can soon be as carefree as how
those shows made us feel.
On behalf of the Colleges Against Cancer – UC Irvine Chapter, we’d like to thank all the team
captains for their energy and commitment! We’d also like to thank our Relay committee for their
tireless effort and dedication! All those panic sessions and hours of lost sleep have allowed this
event to become a reality, so please join us in thanking them for their hard work! And finally,
thank you to our Relay supporters: all our team members, sponsors, caregivers, and survivors! It
is a heartfelt moment to see so much of the community united for the same cause. Your passion
and spirit are what truly makes this community great!
