Bubble Wrap
An accidental discovery by two engineers, Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes in
the year 1957, revolutionized the packaging industry worldwide. Bubble wrap is
basically polyethylene resin or clear transparent plastic film, in the layman's term.
It uses evenly distributed air cushions, in the form of air bubbles trapped between
two films of clear plastic, to provide shock and vibration isolation during transit.
This type of packing ensures enhanced shipping protection of fragile and
breakable items Bubble Wrap.
Several products using the bubble wrap are available today to provide safe,
abrasion-free shipping and transportation of almost any kind of items. The large
and small wrap perforated rolls, available in different specifications of size and
thickness of the sheets as well as the height of the cellular pockets, can be used as
moving and packing supplies primarily as void fill and to pack heavier goods.
The small bubble wrap provides surface protection during packing, to prevent
denting, chipping, and scratching. Food grade Bubble bags are used to store
different food items and the self seal bubble bags can be used for just about any
kind of storage. Bubble mailers and envelopes, and anti-static aluminum bubble
bags are available for packing electronic components that are ESD (electro-static
discharge) sensitive. These bags now come in different colors too Moving Boxes.
This type of packaging material is cheap and has several advantages. Because it
provides good protection, less packing material is required thereby reducing cost.
Being lightweight, the use of the packaging material does not increase freight
charges. Bubble wrap is reusable and recyclable. Environment friendly
biodegradable wrap has now made its market appearance. This product breaks
down in a landfill and is fully absorbed back into the soil.
