our five top golf competitive
A fundamental factor of any sport will be the individual or team competitive rivalries that build. The
New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox or Cubs and Cardinals have been unique baseball
competitive rivalries, and they'll quite often develop over the course of time in the course of their
head-to-head meetings. The sport of golf isn't any different, yet by the nature of golfing
competitions nowadays they do not call for as many face-to-face meetings. Apart from Ryder Cup
competitions golfers are typically in opposition with a complete field in a tournament.
I am going to speak about five golf game rivalries, but we're going to take under thing to consider
not just that level of competitiveness but their historical relevance for their game of golf. Because
of that I will not include, for instance Tiger Woods-Phil Mickelson as I don't think it had been a
notable competition to the game of golf. Golf enthusiasts wanted it to be, even if for the bulk of
that period Woods had been totally superior. Huge competitive rivalries have to have foes that are
on rather equal standing.
1.Palmer-Nicklaus. The rivalry had been noteworthy because it happened at the occasion TV was
first altering into a major part of spectator sporting activities. It enticed many new fans than any
other time plus offered the game of golf a kick-start with the general population. Arnold Palmer
was most likely the initial superstar golfer in the TV era, so fans were drawn toward him. When he
started to be pushed by the upstart Jack Nicklaus, who was in fact the better golfer even if Palmer
fans refused to admit it, it created fascinating golf drama.
2.Snead-Hogan. These people are two true famous people of the game of golf and it's worthy of
note their particular careers mirrored one another, yet at the same time they had been totally
dissimilar individuals. Through the late 30s until late 50s they were tough rivals, Sam Snead
winning 81 competitive events and then Ben Hogan 61, nine of them majors. Snead triumphed in
7 majors although the imperfection with his resume was to never be successful in the US Open.
3.Nicklaus-Watson. I believe this was an ideal rivalry given it epitomizes precisely what any given
rivalry should be. Their individual duels produced many of the most remarkable golf shots in
golfing lore, and when they challenged one another it never appeared as though anyone lost, yet
the champion triumphed mainly because of first-rate golf shots. Nearly as impressive was the
actual mutual high opinion Nicklaus and Watson had for one another.
4.Norman-Faldo. Following the Nicklaus-Palmer along with Nicklaus-Watson competitive rivalries
previously had ended there had been some break. I believe that most of us had missed those
competitive rivalries and searched for another, but when an Australian and also a Brit elevated to
importance it brought an international substance for the game of golf. And certainly this is
something that we have seen since that point. Over those years Nick Faldo won six majors yet
Greg Norman spent 331 weeks labeled the globe's top ranked player. Norman is going to likely go
down throughout history as being the unluckiest participant in major tournaments.
5.Ballesteros-Azinger. I mention this rivalry not for the brilliant records, although each were

extremely accomplished golfers, but I believe this unique rivalry in fact has a whole lot in
connection with making the Ryder Cup what it actually is at present. It started in 1989, and the not
so respectful battles really helped transform the Ryder Cup into the high-intensity events in the
present day.
