ast Saturday, May 22, 2015,
the Order of Asclepius has
yet again extended its
hand, when the Uygongco
Foundation
Incorporated
(UFI),
spearheaded by Ms. Pia Uygongco,
conducted its 5th annual ‘Linis Bata’
Medical Mission held at the said
foundation’s adopted schools in the
provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras.
The UFI organized the mission with
the theme “A better life for our
community, a brighter future for our
nation”. The said event was conducted
simultaneously for the UFI scholars
from the foundation’s host communities
which includes the following: Rizal
Elementary
School,
Hibao-an
Elementary School, N. J. Ingore
Elementary
School,
Don
Pedro
Vasquez Memorial School, and Jordan
Central School. The day-long event
included activities such as lice removal
(Alis Kuto), deworming (Kontra Bulate),
nail care (Linis Kuko), and ear care
(Linis Tenga).
The program was simultaneously
conducted with the ‘Brigada Eskwela’

program of the Department of
Education held last May 18 to 23,
2015. The ‘Brigada Eskwela’, also
known as the National Schools
Maintenance Week, focused on
making schools disaster-prepared,
ecologically conscious, clean, and
conducive to learning. Coordination
of both programs contributed to the
success of the implementation
among the beneficiaries.
The UFI scholars, who benefited
from the medical mission, were
assessed, managed, and given
proper
health
education
and
referrals by resident Asclepians
Marielle Karina Barredo, Louise
Cecille Del Rosario, Charles Jebb
Juanitas, Raissa Ana Marie Juntado,
Aizlynn Anne Robledo, and Mitz
Serofia.
With
only
seven
resident
Asclepians examining 269 UFI
scholars from the five different
schools simultaneously, they rose to
the occasion and helped make the
program a success. The said activity
was also made possible through the

collaborative efforts of the Uygongco
Foundation Incorporated, and the local
government
units,
school
staff,
scholars and parents of the respective
beneficiary schools. #
