expected. It was a surgical
mission caravan worth telling and remembering, and we
feel very lucky and blessed to have experienced the warmest of Negrense hospitality and generosity. And so, it is true,
that service is also a privilege…a privilege of becoming a doctor and a tourist all at the same time.

espite having late lunch for
this day, there wasn’t
anything much to complain.
Because when you get to see
wonderful scenery in a resort of
peace and quiet, a tiring day all
seems worth it…and a fun game of
spin-the-bottle under one of its huts
has got to be in place.

n our way to the farthest town of Negros, we were welcomed by the glorious
sunset in Sipalay. The perfusion of colors was definitely a thing to behold. And just
when we thought the exploding hues of the dusk took our breath away, the
dome-like, star-lit sky of Hinoba-an mesmerized us even more. A table, some
chairs, a bottle of beer, and good company by the shore completed this OAmazing day.

happens to say that this is like
Santorini Island in Greece? But
you got to give credit to us, and,
oh well, just submissively say yes to the
claim, as we risked getting hit-and-ran by
speeding automobiles just to have this taken.

A

30-minute boat trip brought us to this
mysterious cave. Going a few steps further
inside, we took a plunge in its deep, cold
waters and, at that moment, the cave seemed
to own us. Surrounding the cave are knee-deep coral
reefs filled with bountful marine life. Of course,
Biology students instinctively became the teachers of
the day. And right before dusk, we went back to the
resort and took the time for a silhouette jump shot
and, of course, many more poses after.

hey call this spot in Brgy. Sangke, the last village of
Hinoba-an, two places at once. This is where Negros
Occidental meets its twin sibling, maybe lover,
Negros Oriental. And because we were so
romanticized by the idea and were excited enough to split
ourselves on both sides, a photo has got to be taken for the
record.

his
is
a n o th e r
“bakasyonista”
moment for us. Our
last night deserved
awesome accommodation in
a
coconut-filled resort in
Hinoba-an, previously the
guest house of the municipal
mayor. One of the houses
was for us to keep for the
night, just enough to let us
scream our lungs out from
watching a legit horror film
and not nagged by a kill-joy
neighbor.
