une 12, 2015 marks the
117th year of Philippine
independence.
Often, Independence Day
in the Philippines is celebrated
through parades and simultaneous
flag raising activities throughout
the country.
However, as an organization
committed to community service
through various health promotion
and health maintenance activities,
the
Order
of
Asclepius
participated in a medical mission
organized
by
the
Sharks
Basketball Club in Bacolod City
as part of its commemoration
of this year’s Independence
Day.
Sharks
Basketball
Club,

headed by its president Mr.
Antonio Bayadas, is a group of
young professionals who share the
same passion for basketball and
community service. For the
second year in a row, the club
has
been
successful
in
spearheading medical missions
which seeks to provide free
consultation and medications.
Beneficiaries for the said event are
residents of Brgy. Estefania,
Bacolod City. A total of 365
adult and pediatric patients
were able to avail of the free
services.
Resident members Ma. Celine
Villo, Jayrick Aguirre and Anne
Celle Sajorne from Batch 37,
together with Dr. Wilkinson

Gacayan (Batch 35) and medical
students from West Visayas State
University — College of Medicine
Class of 2017 (Excelsior) Anady
Eleccion,
Jozelle
Justiniani,
Ria Noreen Taganile and Lovely
Jermeo were among those who
volunteered
their
medical
expertise during the half-day
event.
The said event was made a
success through the efforts of the
following: ABS-CBN Foundation,
through Mr. Angelo Angolo and
Mr.
Nico
Delfin;
United
Laboratories
(Unilab),
Central
Philippine Adventist College College of Nursing (CPAC-CON);
and Bacolod Adventist Medical
Center (BAMC). #
