THE ASCLEPIAN VOICE
THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE ORDER OF ASCLEPIUS : WEST VISAYAS STATE UNIVERSITY—COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
JUNE 21, 2015
VOLUME 1 ISSUE NO. 30
Article by: Cher Celeste Garcia
S
ummer is almost over
and the beginning of
another school year is
fast approaching. This
doesn’t stop the resident members
of the Order of Asclepius to
squeeze in yet another act of
service.
On June 21st of 2015, the Well
Trade Carnival II spearheaded
by St. John the Baptist Parish
was held at Dingle, Iloilo.
Throughout the day-long event,
with the help of the Order of
Asclepius, Asian Medical Students
Association (AMSA) - WVSU,
Stat Health, and St. Paul’s Nursing
Association, more than 1,000
people from the community and
surrounding areas availed of
the free medical, dental, and
optical services being offered.
Aside from that, there was even a
small area that provided free
haircuts.
Father Ricky Soriano,
parochial vicar, stated that this is
part of their parish’s celebration
for the upcoming fiesta with the
theme “Mag Ulikid sa Simbahan
sang Kubos ni San Juan Bautista”. In
connection with the Year of the
Poor, he hoped that this activity
gave the people the help, joy, and
upliftment that they needed in
their lives.
This opportunity was extended
to the members of the Order of
Asclepius by Dr. Chris Sorongon
(Batch 24), and nine resident
members proudly answered the
call of service. They were Ma.
Celine Villo, Jeffrey Millan Jr.,
Stephanie Grace Lucero, Mitz
Serofia, and Cher Celeste Garcia
from Batch 37; and Abigail
Alonzo, Errel Vin Arboleda,
Chelo Neshanne Comia, and
Louise Cecille Del Rosario from
Batch 38.
T h e carn ival was m ade
possible through the efforts of the
following: RGO Foundation, St.
Paul’s University Iloilo Alumni
Association, Armed Forces of the
Philippines, and Iloilo Pharmacists
Association. #
