Q&A
Q: What is addiction?
A: Addiction is defined as a chronic
neuro-biologic (brain) disorder
that include the following:
compulsive use, continued use
despite harm, craving,
withdrawal, and impaired
control over drug use with
physical and psychological
manifestations.

Prescription Drugs, Illicit Drugs, Alcohol,
and Dual Diagnosis Treatment
The problems are not simple, nor are the solutions.
Prescription Drug Abuse & Overdose were proclaimed
Public Health Epidemic by the Center for Disease
Control. While meth abuse and dependence were
dropping, it is spiking up again.
We are not a band-aid fix. We account for many
variables in the evaluation process and look at the big
picture when treatment is appropriate and how we
can help clients attain a lifetime of recovery.

 Urine drug screen
 Other healthcare provider collaboration
 Include the family
 Diagnosis, treatment recommendations
based on level of care needs, we will refer
out for inpatient treatment when
appropriate.
 Intensive Outpatient Treatment:
 Include the Family in Treatment

Services:

 Adjunctive Individual Counseling

 Substance Use Evaluations:

 Medication Assisted Treatment if appropriate
(Suboxone, Campral, etc.)

 Adolescent or Adult patients
 Dual Diagnosis Capable

 Documenting patient’s success
 Discharge Planning

Q: Is it true that an alcoholic who
suddenly stops drinking is
endangering their life?
A: Yes, depending on their history of
consumption, a medical
detoxification process is critical
for some because withdrawal
seizures can be fatal. But if
hospitalized detox is not
available, when appropriate
supports are present, detox at
home is possible with medication
initiated in the clinic. Medication
however is only adjunctive to
therapeutic treatment.
Q: Can I use my health insurance?
A: When a diagnosis and medical
necessity for treatment is
identified, health insurance
benefits often cover treatment.
We are credentialed providers for
UHA, HMSA, HMSA Quest, Kaiser,
Kaiser Preferred, HMAA and
Aloha Care. Call to inquire for all
others.
