It's safe to say that Saskatoon, SK based instrumental producer Marjen has put in work in the last
few years. In addition to several self released projects, he has released music with respected cassette labels
I had An Accident Records and Em La La Terra, as well as collaborating with musicians, producers and
emcees from across Europe and North America.
Rubies & Rust is Marjen's third project for Clermont-Ferrand based label Hello.L.A. (following singles
with L.V. Frett and Skizza, respectively). For the most part on this album, Marjen sets aside his signature
Rhodes piano and bell-rich melodies in favour of a more raw, ambient, atmospheric sound. The drum
programming is still on point and hits hard, providing the perfect backdrop for his Hello.L.A labelmates,
emcees V8 (Chicago, IL/Portland, OR), Morbidly-O-Beats (Chicago, IL) and Bakus (Los Angeles, CA).
