History and Story Lines
Established in 2011 with a field of seventeen golfers, the Classic has become one of the areas most anticipated
golf tournaments. The Classic has grown 90% since its inception, with some of the finest golfers and gentlemen
from across the U.S. participating in each of the past four annual tournaments.
The Cinderella 2011 Classic champions saw an epic fall from grace, as the team was awarded the ‘Worst Team’
award the very next year as the Classic Commissioner’s own team claimed the 2012 trophy in smashing fashion.
The 2013 play-off finish punctuated a memorable year and the finishing putt by Clint Baldwin left many to wonder
just how high the ceiling could be for this already fantastic tournament, though it was shockingly snubbed in the
2013 ESPYs. However, the dynamic pairing of Craig and Clint was not enough to lift this team to a repeat finish
in 2014. Clint is the only past champion not appearing in the 2015 Classic. On the other side of this putt, was
team ‘Old Balls’, which has seen multiple disappointing close finishes over the years of The Classic. Now dubbed
America’s Team, 2011 MVP and perennial powerhouse Brian ‘B-Mac’ McClain will look to lead this team to the
summit.
2014 saw the return of front-man and 2012 champion, Chris Duffy, to the trophy (matching Wil Hehman as the
only other golfer with multiple victories) and he will look to lead his dynamic team to become the first team to
repeat victories. In order to do so, Derek Deuser (2014 High Impact Player) will need to pull off another incredible
supporting role to aid the effort. Big Shot Bob, sporting a new set of clubs, and Fluffy will also need to perform
at an elite level in order to make history against an impressive field of golfers, which includes just two rookies.
