Welcome to Pense Berry Farm,
With three generations of experience, we provide the largest variety of top-quality
blackberries, raspberries, grapes, and more.

These fine plants are grown here at our farm, with tender loving care. We'll work with you
to make sure you receive them in top condition, and at just the right time for planting.
We have a low minimum order of just $30.00, so we can accommodate the backyard
grower as well as commercial operations.
Pense Nursery is a family-owned farm that has been
passed down through three generations. The
business was started in the 1950s under the name
Loyd Pense Nursery. With six sons and two
daughters, the family had so many ideas and varied
interests that in the late 1970s, the business
branched into five separate nursery businesses. All
five companies are still strong and growing. Now
the third generation is following in the footsteps of
the sons of the original company.

Jewel Black Raspberry
Jewel Black Raspberry: Heavy yields of large berries with excellent
flavor. Highly disease resistant, considered an improvement over the
Britol. A rich Raspberry flavor of very high quality good for jams and
jelly's. Very vigorous and reliable producer, hardy in zones 4-8

Goji Berry
The Goji Berry is also called wolfberry. It is a bright orange-red
berry that comes from a shrub native to China. In Asia, goji berries
have been eaten for generations in the hopes of living longer. Over
time people have used goji berries to try and treat many common
health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, fever and agerelated eye problems. Goji berries are eaten raw, cooked or (like
raisins) are used in herbal teas, juices, wines, and medicines.
Research shows that eating berries, like blueberries, acai berries,
cranberries, strawberries, and cherries offer definite health benefits.
Goji berry are filled with powerful antioxidants. Goji berries also have compounds rich in
vitamin A.

Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry Tree
Mulberry taste similar to blackberries, and they will stain your hands and lips like black
berries as well. They are excellent eaten right out of hand, but they are often used to
preserves, jellies, and jams. The eaves of the mulberry are cultivated in many parts of the
world as food for silk worms. Everbearing produces small fruit almost year round.
A decidious tree growing to 10m by 15m at a slow rate. It is hardy to
zone 5. It is in flower from May to June, and the seeds ripen from
August to September. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers
are either male or female, but both sexes can be found in the same
plant) The plant is self-fertile.
The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils
and requires well-drained soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and
basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It requires
moist soil. It can tolerate atmospheric pollution.
Mulberries have brittle roots and so need to be handled with care when planting them out.
Any pruning should only be carried out in the winter when the plant is fully dormant
because mulberries bleed badly when cut.

Viking Choke Berry
Viking' was selected in Europe for use in orchards but gardeners quickly
discovered it's many attributes as a landscape plant. Masses of fragrant,
white flowers bloom in spring a bit earlier than the species. Gorgeous
red fall colors and extra large berries follow the glossy summer foliage.
Persistent, purplish black berries are high in nutrients and can be used
for pies and jellies or left on the shrub to provide food for birds and
other wildlife. The berries can persist into spring feeding the first
returning robins.
Viking' is a self-fertile, so you need plant only one for a full crop of berries. It needs no
pruning, is quite drought resistant as a native shrub, and has proven remarkably resistant
to pests and diseases. In other words, it is low maintenace. Aronia berries are harvested in
September and October and are quite sour, hence the common name, Chokeberry. Enjoy
them in an array of foods as they are rich in vitamins. One of the true super fruits, they are
high in antioxidants with huge health benefits.

Brown Turkey Fig Tree
Most figs are hot-blooded Mediteranean types that any gardener north
of Texas wouldn't even think of growing. 'Brown Turkey' is and
exception. This cold-hardy variety retains the best traits of a common
fig, including the beautifully shaped light-green leaves, smooth gray
bark, and delicious edible purple-brown fruit, but it survives winters
that would bury most other fig trees. You can train it as a multistemmed
shrub or a small tree. Look for the main crop in late summer or fall. A
small early crop (called the breba crop) may ripen in the spring or early
summer.
