dogs are eager to please
Training your dog will be one of the best things you do for them. In the years to come, your dog
will know its place in the family and will love it, so it pays off in the end. The piece that follows is
full of information about the important role training your dog can play.
Use small steps when training a dog or pup to get into a crate, so that they can become familiar
with it. When they've settled down with the gate open, slowly shut it and pass treats through the
gate. Begin with small intervals, and work your way up to longer times. If the puppy gets too upset
then you increased the time too much, too fast.
Focus on making the training sessions with your dog fun. All animals behave better when they
enjoy being good. Use whatever your dog likes, including toys, attention and privileges, to help
make training a game rather than a chore. You will probably be surprised at the type of results
you get from your animal.
You may need to try different treats until you find what works for your pup. There are a lot of
different dog treats on the market, but your dog has his own tastes and preferences just like
everyone else. If a particular treat doesn't seem to get your dog motivated, try something else.
Your friends and family, in most cases, are not dog trainers. While those around you may have
advice and opinions on how you should handle your dog's training, it does not mean they are
correct. This input may be well-meaning, however, you can ignore most of it if you have taken the
time to do your homework.
Consider hiring someone to help you train your dog. Just like playing a sport, pet training is a skill
that takes time to develop. Everyone has their own style, and it may be that the way you are
interacting with your pet is not quite working. Another person can help you see how to tweak your
training sessions to make them a better fit for you and your pet.
Some training techniques advise that you give your dog a treat as a reward for good performance.
This is a great method, but be sure you're not giving your dog a treat every time they perform the
task. If you do, they come to expect the treat each time and when you stop with the treats, the
obedience stops as well. Instead give the dog a treat randomly so that they don't begin to expect
when they get a treat.
Having your dog trained can make all the difference in your relationship. By following the above
tips, you'll be able to have a better time with your dog with less hassle and mess. If your dog
wasn't your best friend before, he or she will be after some simple dog training! Trackr Bravo
