The Seymour Fox Lecture & Prize for Biotechnology Innovation
In 2014 in honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS),
Rensselaer partnered with the Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation to establish The Seymour Fox Lecture and
Prize for Biotechnology Innovation. We recognize that the next generation of students will develop new and
innovative solutions to some of the world’s most challenging problems. Rensselaer has world class biotechnology
faculty researchers in a state-of-the-art facility who will mentor the prize winners. This competition is a great
way to turn inspiration into accomplishment!

Students from public high schools in Albany and Rensselaer counties are invited to compete for prizes to be
awarded at Rensselaer in the Spring of 2016. Applicants must be 16 by July 1, 2106.

focused on pairing innovative ideas of local students with the resources available at Rensselaer’s CBIS, to
improve life through biotechnology. Applicants are asked to identify a concrete problem that has a feasible
solution, through innovative application of the biotechnology recourses available at Rensselaer’s CBIS facility.
Successful submissions must be related to the research interests of at least one CBIS faculty member,
(http://biotech.rpi.edu/research) and be feasible to develop a prototype at CBIS during one academic year.

First Prize:
