This is a hosted tour specifically designed for
teachers of wine, hospitality, commercial
Cookery, agriculture and tourism.
Start the day, meeting the makers. Visit the DPI
Applethorpe Research Station and meet the new
Kalei Apple. The Kalei is the result of a 20 year
breeding program. Bred resistant to black spot, this
new variety is sure to impress and you get first look.
The Agritourism story doesn’t get any better than a
visit to Dave & Ros Sutton’s juice factory, cidery and
distillery. Visit their on site shed café for a coffee
and see why their apple pie tastes so good and
meet the maker.
Visit the Rizzato family’s fully operational apple
packing shed then on to meet the cheesemaker at
Stanthorpe Cheese. Back to the Queensland
College of Wine Tourism for a cooking demonstration with Chef Drew and a lesson in food and wine
matching with the wine maker Peter Orr whilst
enjoying the regional, seasonal signature dish of
Varias Restaurant, Medley of Mains.
After a facilities tour, join the apprentice chefs on
the lawns for an interactive canapes competition
and sit back for an enjoyable night under the stars
with entertainment and event ideas.
