Bio:
Napier Avalon Jones is a musical collective that started out in arse end of nowhere, New Zealand and
rapidly expanded along the way plucking musicians everywhere from Nashville to London. The last thing
that the world needs is another snot nosed 19 year old insisting that he’s lived beyond his years; which
vocalist Eliot Witters acknowledges tongue-in-cheek as he delivers his cigarette stained words that
promote nights of classic cars and boardwalk kisses but with a forgivable earnest spirit. The lyrics are
supported by sweeping guitars and brooding piano melodies to create a sound not too distant from
alternative country classics all the while maintaining that “Don’t just retire on grapes. Be the whole
fucking vineyard.” Attitude to give the songs a romantic folk-punk rock spark.
2015 was a great year of making solid foundations from the group that took them from gigs in Auckland
and a brief dip around the west coast of New Zealand to Melbourne, Australia. And then onwards to the
East Cost of America before rounding out the year in the UK.
The Band:
Fronted by jean jacket mercenary Eliot Witters. Whose on-stage charisma boasts a heart on sleeve ethos
accompanied by a one too many bad decisions grin. Ryan Bigelow of Nashville’s very own “Rigby”
compliments the whisky soaked sounds with his unique almost Spanish influenced lead guitar riffing.
He’s never afraid to be demoted down to trumpet, too, when brass is required. Leaving founding
member Michael Summers to pick up on guitar where Ryan left off. Finlay Cramp and Marius van der
Bas are known to swap duties on keys depending on the sound required for each certain situation. To
round this all off multi-instrumentalist and producer Luca Kupper of Boston’s “Total Wife” is all ways on
hand to fill in the rest of the gaps necessary. And last but not least Auckland’s Georgia Cunningham and

Meg Richter also of “Total Wife” claim provide the back bone to many of the songs when they require an
extra sprinkle of cowboy’s lament with their vocal harmonies.

Jones’ music performance. The opener is a laid back visit
to an old Ryan Adams demo calmly lead by trumpets and
charming acoustic guitar riffs. Followed on by an all guns
blazing track Bedroom Dance where no instrument is left
behind. The EP concludes with two live solo recordings
that demonstrate the grittiness and fun of a Napier
Avalon Jones gig.
