Daily wear eye lenses are those that can be discarded each day. These types of soft contacts are
very much popular today because it is the safest, easiest to use and clean. They are pretty
convenient for those who want to wear lenses but have not much time to care about it. These
types of contacts can be used for a specific occasion like Halloween, New Year or any party or
people who have problem in vision.
At the very beginning, in the 1960s, contact lenses were not so comfortable and could not
provide an acceptable vision, especially for astigmatism. But from 1970 their manufacturing
process became computerized and could cut different size, shape and their edge become
thinner than previous. And are also designed in such a way that the user feels comfortable like
normal vision.

Daily wear contact lens is made of hydrophilic polymer plastic. This material is flexible and gel
like. It becomes thick depending water it contains. No matter how much thick or thin it is you
feel like a water drop on your finger. It is permeable for oxygen to pass to the cornea.

Two types of daily wear eye contact lenses are daily disposable and disposable.
Daily disposable contacts are used once and then discard. Therefore, it eliminates cleaning and
disinfecting. It is convenient for those who have not enough time to clean and disinfect lenses.
As they have to replace daily, so overall cost is higher than others. On the other hand,
disposable soft eye contact lenses cost is lower than the previous. Because they can be worn
more than one week or more. But here another fact is that it needs to be cleaned and disinfect
each time you wear it.

ADVANTAGE: Daily wear soft contacts is the healthy and exciting option for contact lens users.

>>> No need to clean every time it has been used.
>>> Minimal time to wear and remove.
>>> Safest.
>>> No way to contaminate.
>>> Easy to replace.

DISADVANTAGE: Everything in the world has some drawback. Daily wear soft contacts have

>>> They have short life span.
>>> Some time unable to correct vision problems.
>>> Expensive.
>>> Must be cleaned and disinfect before use.
>>> Need more time to wear and remove than glasses.
Though it has some problems, but still it is a good option for many patients.

Although daily disposable lenses need not cleaning and disinfecting but some little bit care
should be taken. Some tips are given below:
>>> Use commercial cleaning solution. Do not use home made solutions, water or any other
>>> Do not mix different solution together.
>>> Wash your hand before use the lens.
>>> Always follow the instruction of eye doctors.
>>> Do not put the contacts in the mouth.
>>> Do not use them more than once.
>>> Buy from FDA approved sellers.
>>> Use fashion color lens if your doctor allows you otherwise not.

It is important to know that not all vision-correction products can fix all types of vision
problems. All contact-lens wearers should have realistic expectations. Daily wear soft contact
lenses do not correct all vision problems, and vision acuity is usually not as sharp as with other
types of contact lenses (e.g., RGP lenses).
Regular office visits are necessary, and even well-maintained lenses almost always need to be
replaced eventually. Typically, daily wear soft contact lenses are good for those who:
>>> Have myopia (nearsightedness)
>>> Have astigmatism
>>> Have the time to clean and disinfect lenses daily
>>> Can follow their eye doctor’s instructions on wearing schedule and cleaning
>>> Can commit to more frequent visits to their eye doctor
>>> Do not want to wear eyeglasses during normal activities
>>> Want a more natural appearance
