FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Goodhue, Debut EP from New Minnesota Band OSO Set for Release March 1
Release party at Icehouse in Minneapolis with Camp Dark and Dem Yuut as DJs.
December 2011. Christopher Williams is lying asleep on a couch alone in Red Wing, MN in a
mansion owned by a former cereal magnate, a Casiotone keyboard still on his chest. He jerks
awake and writes down a few lines in his notebook. The song is done. Worse Than I Think. It is
the first song he ever wrote that he liked.
Most artists have a moment when their voice starts to crystallize. When all of the terrible songs,
all of the dumb paintings, all of the poorly composed photographs become just steps along the
path to clarity. Williams had a relentlessly meandering musical path - classical piano degrees,
jammy alt country bands, kitschy piano bar gigs - but the thread that held it together was a slow
trickle of earnest pop songs. It wasn’t until he spent a month alone at the Anderson Center in
Red Wing, MN that everything clicked together and his writing voice became something strong
enough to build upon. That song that he finished with his Casiotone keyboard and the ensuing
songs from his time in Red Wing make up the five songs on the forthcoming Goodhue EP from
Williams’ new project, OSO.
The EP was recorded and produced by Brett Bullion (Bad Bad Hats, Tungsten) and recorded
with instrumentalists Alex Young (Warehouse Eyes, Fathom Lane, On & On), Andrew Foreman
(Reina del Cid, Nooky Jones) and Steve Bosmans (John Mark Nelson, Charn) who also will be
the live band.
OSO will have a release show for their Goodhue EP at Icehouse in Minneapolis on Tuesday,
March 1 with Camp Dark and Dem Yuut doing a drum machine DJ set. #
