Australia’s Pipeline Industry: Sustainability n Knowledge n Innovation

The 2016 APGA Annual Convention
The 48th Annual Convention of the Australian Pipelines
and Gas Association (APGA) will be held at the Perth
Convention and Exhibition Centre from 8 to 11 October
2016 and will cover a range of issues under the title:
Australia’s Pipeline Industry: Sustainability |
Knowledge | Innovation.
APGA’s Annual Convention brings together participants
from all sectors of the pipeline industry as well as other
industries that are associated with natural gas and the
transportation of energy, slurry and water. This major
annual industry event provides excellent information
in the business sessions, and the social events allow
for extensive networking opportunities. The Australian
pipeline industry is respected worldwide and APGA’s broad
membership base provides knowledge and information
that is being transferred to the next generation of experts.
The business sessions will include papers covering
pipeline operations, project updates, training, research,
environmental challenges and safety issues. It is also
expected that gas policy and gas markets will be
increasingly topical at this time, generating much interest
and debate about the role of the transmission sector and
the challenges of gas supply for the domestic market.

This Call for Papers includes a request for presentations
covering major (or smaller) projects, opportunities and
developments in the industry. Presentation topics can
include but are not restricted to:

natural gas and energy policies
gas markets
construction challenges
coal seam gas
international industry
regulatory developments.
training and skills development
operational and maintenance issues
environmental issues
technical regulation
water, slurry, waste transportation

The APGA Annual Convention is an opportunity to present
forward-thinking and practical ideas that stimulate
discussion and debate and give guidance to the industry
as it prepares for the future.

Venue – Perth
Perth, the location for the 2016 Convention, is known for its glorious days and
spectacular sunsets – this city will impress. The capital sits where the Swan River
meets the southwest coast. Perth has more than two million people working and living in
the city and nearby coastal regions. The city has gained notice on the world stage as an
important cultural and business hub of Australia and a gateway to the Asian markets.
Perth offers many unique experiences for all visitors; the views and beauty of Kings Park
which is located only minutes from the city; the marine and wildlife of Rottnest Island;
the architecture and beaches of Fremantle and the multicultural energy of the CBD.
With a Mediterranean climate, Perth enjoys hot dry summers with mild winters. October
has temperatures that range from a minimum of 11°C to a maximum of 22°C. Perth
boasts an average of eight hours of sunshine a day.
The Convention will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is
located within an easy walking distance of many levels of accommodation.
We look forward to welcoming you to the APGA Convention in 2016.

Social Program

The APGA Annual Convention will have a comprehensive
social program to promote networking within the industry,
including dinners, the traditional golf competition, tours
and other special events. Partners are encouraged to
attend outings which will be covered by their registration.
Children up to and including 15 years of age are welcome

to attend the day outings free of charge. Traditionally, four
dinners are held throughout the Convention, each with
its own distinct theme — Saturday’s relaxed Welcome
Dinner, Sunday’s official Opening Dinner, the famous APGA
Monday night Fancy Dress Dinner and Tuesday’s formal
APGA Annual Dinner.

Exhibition and Sponsorship
As in previous years, the 2016 APGA Convention will host
an Exhibition designed to give companies in the industry
an opportunity to display their products and services.
APGA’s 2015 Exhibition was very successful, with 134
stands. The 2016 Exhibition will consist again of over
130 displays, with the official opening to take place on
Sunday, 9 October 2016. On the evening of the Opening
Dinner, pre-dinner drinks will be held in the exhibition
area, as will all morning and afternoon teas and lunches
throughout the Convention. All exhibitors will be listed
in the Convention Program and receive trade invitations
to send to potential customers. They will also receive
discounted registration to the Convention and publicity in
APGA’s official publication, The Australian Pipeliner.
Registration fees have been kept to a minimum through
the generous sponsorship support of APGA member

companies. Sponsorship packages are available for
business sessions, lunches, dinners, morning and
afternoon teas, registration items, Exhibition features
and the social programs. All sponsors receive extensive
exposure and acknowledgement from APGA, as well as
other benefits, depending on the level of sponsorship.
Sponsorship can be tailored to suit the requirements of
major and other sponsors and begin from $1,000 plus
GST for a satchel insert.
APGA Members and certain levels of Convention
Sponsors are entitled to discounted exhibition stands.
