HARO BMX International newsletter - February 2016
Winter isn't always ideal to ride. Rain, wind, cold, ice, snow, sometimes it's
hard to make it work. But if there's a will, there's a way. Indoor spots, trips
to warmer places, covered riding spots, the BMX-er in us will find a way to
get on that bike. But we're in March already so spring should knock on our
doors soon. Let's see how much winter slowed our riders down. Not much
telling by this lengthy newsletter.
-Matthias Dandois rode a lot of flatland over the winter months. Call it training, or just riding and
progressing, doesn't really matter, but it has paid off already as Mr. Dandois won two Pro flatland
contests in a row for the French Cup on his signature La Bastille frame from Haro Bikes.

-Daniel Wedemeijer (NED) has been working hard to get back in shape after his injury held him
off the bike for a few months. A full on promotion campaign was started getting ready for the Nitro
Circus Live show in Arnhem which happened on 20 February. Travis Pastrana flew in for some
pre-promotion and Daniel filmed some clips, did some radio interviews and got THIS INTERVIEW
on the Dutch Red Bull site.

-At the USA National BMX Championships both HARO riders got their Citizen on the podium.
Brooke Crain scored a bronze in the Elite Women class and Nic Long got his signature carbon
Citizen on spot three as well after winning the title in 2015.

-Denmark's Klaus Bøgh Andresen has been all over the place to prepare for 2016. Spain, Italy,
Manchester, the Danish HARO rider is doing what he can to get ready. Here's the bike he has built
up for 2016.

Does she have to be clean at all times before you hit the track?
Klaus Bøgh Andresen: Pretty much all the time. I hate to ride on a dirty bike.
What tire pressure do you run?
Klaus Bøgh Andresen: 110 psi
When it gets technical, who helps out with your bike?
Klaus Bøgh Andresen: National Team Denmark mechanic Morten Therkildsen or Steffan
Christensen, former AUS. Mechanic.
Any special reason for the colour combination of your bike?
Klaus Bøgh Andresen: The new BOX blue parts just look so good on the carbon frame with blue
stickers.
Does weight matter much to you?
Klaus Bøgh Andresen: I will always try to make it a little bit lighter if possible. But I haven’t
weighted my bike so I guess not that much.
Thanks to: All my sponsors for their support.

-The offical FISE World Series plan for 2016 hasn't been publicly announced yet but it looks like
four stops will make up the official UCI World Cup series this year starting off with the FISE in
Montpellier, France one weekend after the Simple Session in Estonia. Other stops will probably
take place in possibly Croatia, Edmonton, Canada, Cheng-du, China. More info on www.fise.fr for
those who want to sign up. 4-8 May 2016. Dennis Enarson, Matthias Dandois, Maxime

Charveron, Thomas Benedetti and Daniel Wedemeijer will be in Montpellier representing
HARO Bikes. Also Ryan Nyquist is scheduled to be present but riding the MTB comp.

-Dave Mirra R.I.P. (4 April 1974 - 4 February 2016). By Joe Hawk
Life can change in a nano second. We have all lost a friend and a champion and find ourselves
numb and deeply saddened by this. Now we have to find a way to create some light from the
darkness that Dave must have felt, and that we all feel now. Dave has a special place in the heart,
mind, and soul of Haro.
We have a specially commissioned original oil painting of Dave in our office as appreciation and
as a reminder to all who work here for all that he did for the sport and for our company. There it
will remain forever!

We offer our deepest sympathies to the Mirra family and pray that your pain will ease with
time. Nothing prepares you for this, and ultimately it will be the love of friends and family that will
help get you through to the place where you can find your balance once again and breathe.
Energy does not go away, it transforms. To Dave, we would say that your invisible chains have
been released, you are now free to fly throughout the Universe as you have always done so well
here on earth. There is much love here, for you and for your family, forever. Until we meet again.....

-The day is getting closer that Dean Cueson (GBR) will be back on the bike again after shoulder
surgery. It will be good to have Dean back on the scene in the UK. The biggest BMX Freestyle
event on the 2016 calendar in the UK will be NASS. An announcement around that event will be
made later this month. Event date: 8-10 July 2016.

-Brad McNicol Winter 2015 edit right here, straight from the UK.
-Niklas Laustsen is one of those up and coming BMX racers from Denmark who hit the race
circuit hard in 2015. This year he has built himself a HARO Citizen carbon race machine and we'll
see how he does at the first round of the UCI BMX SX World Cup in Santiago del Estero,
Argentina (25-26 March). Thanks to Centrano distribution for the support.
