Poor Habits That is Harmful For Your Teeth
Many people are worried that even after maintaining a good dental care, regular brushing and flossing
their teeth; they are still facing oral problems. After following all the basic rules of dental care, they are
still experiencing problems. They must be thinking what's wrong going on? Well, it’s some of your poor
habits that are affecting your teeth. Just brushing your teeth’s daily will not keep them clean and
healthy. Sometimes your bad habits can also ruin all your healthy oral hygiene. Let yourself know what
kind of bad habits you have that are harming your teeths. Dr. Ankur Gupta, a well-known dentist in
Gurgaon sector 31, will put forward some of the common poor habits that most of the people make that
are harmful for teeth.

Some poor habits that are harmful for teeth are as follow:
1. Brushing very hard - Most of the people usually think that applying more pressure while brushing
or using brush with firm bristles will clean their teeth. But, this isn't so. Instead, use a soft bristled
toothbrush to clean your teeth and use it very gently in a circular motion over your teeth.

2. Chewing hard objects -

Chewing hard objects like pencil, pen etc. can affect your teeth or
gums. Some people chew ices also, especially the leftover ice after finishing a cold drink. It's cold
temperature can actually cause teeth to fracture. And, the hard objects can chip off part of the enamel
on a tooth. So, do the things which are meant for your teeth i.e. eating food, not hard objects.

3. Using Teeth as Tools - It is the most common habit among many individuals whether children,
teenagers or adults. Many people rely on their teeth for a number of odd jobs: to tear open a bag of
potato chips, uncap a bottle of any drink, rip a price tag off a piece of clothing. You may not feel at that
time but this can be hard on your teeth causing the edge of a tooth to chip off. Use the proper tools
which are meant for such purposes.

4. Biting Your nails - Some people use their teeth to bite their nails. Sitting free when nothing else
to do, many people just put on their fingers in mouth to trim their nails. These seem harmless, but nail
biting can actually affect your oral health. It can flatten the edges of your teeth; expose your mouth to
dirt stuck on your nails and fingers.
These were some of the common poor habits that are harmful for your teeth. You need to take care of
these habits if you want healthy teeth. You can visit them for consultation if you are experiencing any
